CloseIt looks like one of the model makers prototypes of the upcoming Ghibli have been leaked by someone and they show what the styling of the car will look like. It looks more like the true successor to the outgoing Quattroporte 5 design in terms of it's styling and dimensions rather than the new QP6 which has grown in size for the far East market.
A couple more leaked photo's. Please excuse the second one as I had to join two different photo's together to achieve a near full view of the car but the front wheel looks out of proportion as a result. Dealers are being shown the finished production version of the car next month and sales start at the end of summer I believe with very aggressive pricing. It looks like it could be an interesting alternative. There will be three engines available -
270 bhp V6 diesel
330 bhp V6 petrol
410 bhp petrol
I don't have any torque figures to compare the likely real world performance of the diesel to the 330 bhp petrol V6.

Not sure but I think N/A. The 410 hp version will be powered by a bi-turbo charged V6 as far as I heard. AWD is standard or optional, not sure yet.

Its a refreshing change from the German opposition but the back reminds me a bit of an Audi. Can't wait to see it in the flesh and the pricing (under £50k for the diesel in the UK) puts it quite close to the new (F30 based) Alpina D3, which has caught my eye for a new daily driver

This car will sell like hot cakes over here. So many Quattroportes in town already. I do see why, it's an interesting new niche to the luxury car segment and a nice alternative to the German ruled segment in general. I'd go for one, but only if the driving experience is also very high.. ie. better than a BMW. Can't wait to see them driven by 19 year old here lol

It looks like an oriental copy of a Maserati. This is an indication of where FIAT aspires to sell this product.
Italian cars in general (but with some exceptions) don't have the engineering completeness of German cars, but buyers are still willing to pay for them because of the style, finesse and imagination of Italian design. If Italian car design starts being orientalized this uniqueness which has been a strong comparative advantage, will be lost and hence there will be no reason to pay for lesser engineering integrity in future.

Beautiful car, styled with flair that only the Italians can do. I can't imagine it ever being a high volume car so for those that want a stylish, elegant and individual car away from the mandatory and boring BMW 5/7 and Merecedes E it would be an inviting option. I hope it does well - but then I've always loved the Maserati brand - I look at it as an Italian Aston Martin.
