Ahum! Yes, I can see it's blood orange on a monitor. Smiley Couldn't tell it from guards red on a 10" netbook screen last night. Smiley

My phone camera is terrible. You can see the color better in these pictures, although in reality, it's even better.

993 GT Clubsport. Homologation special for the BPR GT1 championship in the late 90s. That little beetle churns out 470 hp for 1300 kgs and is the only in the world in blood orange.

First off, congrats !! Again an epic addition, fine fine taste mate, and good solid choices for future classics.

and secondly, and I don't want to steal the thunder from your two gorgeous purchases but, is that a Zondas F and an 8C   In the background?

    Re: F40

    Great cars Futch!  kiss  Congratulations!

    Re: F40

Many thanks for your continued contributions here Futch!

You're taking an interesting investment strategy - one that I've read about more than a few times. Seems like it has been advantageous for those who know what they're looking for, as you clearly do. Besides, playing with these cars, hell even looking at them, provides much more fun than just playing the stocks...

I look forward to seeing where your collection goes from here! Enjoy them in good health!

    Re: F40

Congrats on your new toy, the F40 is one of the most charismatic Ferrari ever, if not the most Smiley, it´s my favourite.

    Hi Futch,

Thanks for sharing!  This is really something special.

I hope we can also see a video of you running the F40.

Two fantastic acquisitions mate, I wouldn't know what pair of cars I'd consider to be more desirable than these two... I had been drooling over that blood red GT2 since the moment it came up for sale. angel

Many many congratulations, both cars should make for an enjoyable yet solid investment!

Futch, just how many cars do you own? Hell, based on what I have seen on this board, I wouldn't be able to afford the insurance premiums on the cars.indecision

     Hi Nick,

I currently have 15 cars, I think. Insurrance wise, it's odd you know, the more cars I have, the cheaper it gets on a compounded basis because I am now under a fleet coverage type. And it's odd, the most valuable cars in my collection are not the most expensive to insure, because they fall under the collectible category and the insurers considers I drive them less distance (nonsense!) and less often (true).

I am in the very lucky position where the increase in value of some or my cars vastly offset the overall insurance premium.

I have two cars arriving end of this summer, a 911 Singer and a 356 Convertible D (prettier than a speedster IMO) and then next year the 918.

The brief is as follows, I buy cars that are either going up in value (classics, etc.), that are off unique orders (the singer) or that have rocked my life in one way or another (the Ferrari 550). And I keep those that are very special to me (the 997 Carrera S, the GT3 RS).

Where does the 918 fit? I don't know. And sadly, I think it will lose value. We will see. Actually, some future owners will be in Leipzig on the 25th of September for some hot laps, but I can't make it. Shame.

Then I have a daily driver, the 997 Turbo S. This car is just perfect.

I have lost too much money in very complicated products offered by very confusing and arrogant bankers. This investment money. Since 2008, I only invest in things I know well and understand. No more hedge funds and derivative products and FX wizard product, they don't work and when they do, they don't put a smile on your face like starting up a 1961 Ferrari Colombo V12.Smiley

     Thank you Porker!

I haven't driven the 993 yet. The Turbos are kaput but it should be ready soon. I am expecting a similar dose of adrenaline than the F40. Smiley

I've never thought of investing in cars as being a rational thing to do but when you put it like that it makes perfect sense. Smiley

Power-to-weight is still a long way in favor of the F40 I would say? Really curious what your impression of the 993 will be, many consider it (as in the 993 in general) to be 'too soft' and rather heavy, yet you have it in its sharpest and most brutal shape, I wonder how that'll play out. Smiley

I never understand why person with wealth need bankers...a bank is only for payment transactions and nothing else...a family office is the way to go...

    Futch:

I've finally had time to drive one of the latest addition to my cars, the fantastic, fabulous, scary fast, gorgeous F40!

BTW, did you see the Yellow Bird thread? This RUF car would be a perfect complement to the F40. I can still recall how the press compared the two cars in some of the most interesting tests of these days. You would own the two ultimate turbo powered cars of this period. Something worth considering, don't you think so Smiley
