not plat silver, there is a "new' Rhodium silver ?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Oops my bad. Sorry you are quite correct. I meant to say Rhodium silver and typed "Platinum"!. I think you will find the car in the background of that shot is Rhodium silver...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Just on the rear bumper reflector issue. In Europe and ROW white reflectors are allowed on the front of the car. If you look at the press and Geneva pictures of  the 991 GT3 you will see it has white reflectors just ahead of the front wheels.

In the recent photographs showing the 991 GT3 in Blue and Agate grey we see the car has orange front reflectors. I think this is a US market requirement as on previous generations of the 991/997.

My country has no legislation for the colour of the reflectors. Does this mean an aftermarket white reflectors could be used in the rear bumper I wonder?

A small and silly detail to discucss I guess. Interesting however as it would indicate those cars in the picture are US spec?

Note the rear bumper space for the lisence plate on the Agate Grey car is much smaller than the Euro car shown at Geneva...

Yes...US specs. Cars have BB license plates...Weissach uses BB and LB license plates for their test cars.

    PBS2010:

Regarding the weight of the car, was the unladen weight (DIN) of 1,430 kg measured with the standard seats or the optional bucket seats?

Can we know the weight of the main options which may be selected for the car:

    • Bucket seats & full leather (net weight saving?)
    • PCM
    • Audio plus
    • Front lift
    • PLDS
    • Tempostat
    • Sport Chrono Plus
    • Telephone module

    Thanks.  Smiley

I emailed your question to my P source. He will get precise figures next week-so far he wrote to me:

"Weight is with standard seats. With optional buckets you will have same weight(1430kg) if you order PCM with Navi module, Audio Plus, SC and full leather. PCCBs do not save as much weight as on previous GT3 versions since they are bigger(410mm fronts and 390mm rears). "

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Love the front of the car... The rear tail lights are not doing it for me, especially with the overhung deck led and big wing... it just doesn't flow like the previous model IMO

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Previous model looks like s**t compared to 991.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Not that I don't like the 991, but to my eyes the 997.2 ( Carrera and GT3) is the more lithe car and better proportioned.

Just keep in mind that Black wheels can not be ordered(and AFAIK wont be). So, choice is Platinum wheels or optional Silver wheels.

Have just tried to do a GT3 on the Dubai Porsche site...EURO 110k. Got me thinking, but seriously i have 4 kilometers to work and close to 10 speed bumps, so with a racecar already in the garage I am not sure I can justify one - bugger !!

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Bored with the 09 C2S Cab, traded in on the 991 GT3. Probably go w/ white and the red stitching, lift, nothing much else.  Dealer figures 2 slots so I've got one whenever that becomes available.  Controversies aside the car should prove entertaining which for me is really the only issue.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The new blue looks great, better than the “Acqua blue”, I think, which I have always found to be a bit vulgar.  I would probably go for the Guards Red in any case.  It really fits the GT3 and is less painful to maintain than white.  Yellow is also beautiful, but may be too much.

Regarding the body of the new GT3, well, taste is very personal.  My opinion the new GT3 looks just great.

There is only one area which is graceless:  the big air scoop below the rear window.  Relative to that of the 997 GT3, it has been considerably enlarged.  Luckily, it is vastly concealed by the rear wing and the wing pillars.  However, depending on where you look and probably depending on the color too, it really looks ugly.  On the Geneva show car, the car being white, it is less noticeable.

I viewed today a video by Jay Leno about his 997 GT2. His is red, in “arrest me red” as he said.  Do you think we stand greater chances of being pulled over by the cops if the car is red (or probably yellow) vs other colors?  Any personal experience?

    Thanks.   Smiley

Thanks - the new close-ratio gearing is one of my favorite aspects - cool to watch him shift at redline in 4th and land at around 7,300rpm in 5th (with two more close ratios to go)!  Sorta funny how they talk about 50% reduced shift travel when they're talking about an electric switch though...

This must also be the first time in an official video that I've seen the driver use the shift lever (as well as the paddles) - a subtle advertisement that the lever shift direction is now logical.

No real car pics yet since Rhodium will be introduced from week 23. It is definitely little bit darker and less beige then Platinum. Just, it is not light in shade as Artic.

BTW, Platinum is the worst shade of silver that Porsche introduced recently. It is not a sporty color. Good for Panamera, but less so on 991 and 981. Rhodium will replace it in complete range of Porsche cars from MY14.
