hmm, the porsche used car search gives me 8 cars ... would this many (or tons as you say) ?

I mean, Porsche has significantly changed the way dealers can or have to order new cars - a couple of years ago you would not have found any new GT3 or Turbo at a dealer... just saying ...

One of the dealers here in Germany even showed a copy of the "official replacement letter" for the engine swap with pics of the car ...

    RC,

I had a look on the barely not used GT3 i Germany and there was two lack ones which are really tempting.(One is in aachen PZ).

Myonly worry : don't you think the resale alue will be significantly lowe than the 2015 models?

As I will keept max 1  or 1,5 years , I fear o loosig massive money in depreciation, jut because of themor chage letter..

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

To be honest I don't think there will ba a change in resell value, it.will be the same care then let's take my example. Net price was 194k less indemnity of 22k makes a much cheaper car. If on the contrary they bring significant change to the 2015 which I don't think so, it might. At the end this car is an amazing machine and won several prices why would it loose faster value.mthink about other GT3 with broken engine and for some couple of time, there is not change. A GT3 with 50k KM after 5'years will be value 80k, still 50%. Then for the Swiss, buying a German car with less warranty has a lower resale value. I plane to keep mine for some time simply there is no better car. When you do sessions of 40mn on track you will understand why.

Evidently Porsche, nor Excellence has yet to discover aircraft/aerospace grade rod bolts, lock washers and nuts that do not stretch or loosen.  mail   Professional engine builders have used them in high output applications for a long time.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

The article poses more questions than answers. I doubt we will learn the cause of the failures. It's not in Porsche's DNA. Meanwhile I still wait for my car. I am told my new engines arrives next week and I should have the car the first week in August if not sooner.

I have yet to see the car nor am I allowed to visit the port to see it.

What does a GT3 sound like at 9K RPM's. Have a listen. This car has the Sharkwerks by pass but it is my understanding that there is a small difference in sound between it and original exhaust .

Nice - microphone must be shoved right up the exhaust

Agree.  Difficult to understand why the problem could not have been anticipated given the engine's performance.

Sounds good but I can't be very happy about passing over the double solid yellow on a country road.  He needs to be prosecuted and cease driving.  Just plain dumb.  I know it looked clear but there is no excuse to risk others like that.  I drive on a lot of country roads when going to the lake and it can be tempting to pass but very foolish and deadly!

On a bright note - if his engine holds together then Porsche have indeed solved the problem.

the PDK shifting is dead boring but quick.Smiley  Looks like this guy needs it to be fast

If you only knew - how many cops I have outrun in my day!  Gladstone has first hand passenger knowledge - care to comment Tony?

Don't care if the road was a yawner - there is a good reason for the double yellow, like farmers turning onto the road from behind a hill.  Just silly to be PRO crossing the double yellow line.

I doubt you could surprise me, I have very excellent road awareness.

PS my wife calls my car Ex-Lax for a reason.

There isn't a lot of inherent understeer.

Factory front and rear camber settings are -1.30"

I have had the following geo changes made for a slightly more aggressive road and track setting. It will remove a little understeer. These changes can be done without needing spacer or after-market lower adjustable arms. They are not as aggressive as going -3.10"

I will try these settings at the track shortly....

I'm so sorry I missed this post, I have to apologize.

It is very difficult to tell right now if the engine issue will have serious consequences regarding resale value. Well informed "future customers" may actually check the production date and refuse to buy a car which has been "fixed".

On the other hand, if there won't be further issues with the GT3, I think that people will start to forget at some point. Many GT3 will show up this year at driving/track events and this could positively change the perception regarding this car.

Still...I cannot predict the future, everything is possible.

Yes, there should be room for negotiations, there are quite a few used GT3 available in Germany right now and as far as I heard, demand at dealers for new cars is also pretty low, so if you want to buy one, maybe now is the time.

Please do not forget that the GT3 RS could change the whole game again, if the RS version is as good as many believe it will be. This could actually hit GT3 resale value more than the engine issue.

+1, for those who actually take the GT3 to a race track, which I would limit to Europe, this holds true, I think - the perception, especially in the US may be different as we have seen in this thread already many times...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

If anything 2014's will hold up in value BETTER than 2015's. They are essentially the same car but one has a better factory warranty. Also, the one with the lesser warranty cost more. A no brainer.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Nick, I should have mine (2014) in about three weeks or less. The car is in San Diego and I believe the engine has arrived or soon to arrive. I assume the turn around will be three weeks if not less.

For now I am driving a new 2014 991 C2S with sport package. Also, they are paying me $66 a day from March 21st. The car will have a five year/100,000 warranty.

FWIW, I understand continental Europe GT3 owners are being paid $200 a day, get an additional year warranty AND an additional set of tires. I should not be penalized and discriminated against  because my native language is English and live in NA.surprise

Nick, really? you are playing the discrimantion card being a US customer? do you know how much you paid for your GT3 compared to those in continental Europe in the first place?   130,000$ vs 215,000$ in Spain for example Smiley

But serously, that is not the case in all Europe, in Spain AFAIK they get an extra year of warranty and thats it, now thats incredible.

Carlos, I can't speak for Spain but I do know Middle East buyers pay as much if not less than we do and yet they got the European package. We in NA are Porsche's biggest market. They should treat us the same as their other markets.

Nick, while the USA is the biggest market for Porsche, it is also the lowest retail price market in the whole world.

Don't have to look far, we Canadian already paid about a 25-30% premium to what US buyer pays. And we are at a much lower price point than the rest of the world.

You Americans have it easy. If you want Porsche to treat you as the rest of the world, be prepared to pay 240k for a half decent configed Turbo S or 180k for s well optioned GT3.

Or 345k for a 458 Speciale before options.

    Can you stomach that price?
