This is the first response we've seen by Porsche on the matter. Typical wordy PR response which, if you can be bothered to read it, means nothing at all other than it comes down to whatever they think will satisfy the customer in that market.

I've read that sentence a couple of times and I'm still trying to work out what is so despicable about doing "whatever they think will satisfy the customer".   Smiley

It looks like UK customers have had phone calls today with good compensation figures according to Pistonheads thread. £2k per month for March and April and £1.5k per month for each subsequent month.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

    some info on engine deliveries.

May 2 Porsche will address the list of vehicules under priority

May 5 engine ordering, don't ask me what this is I don't know. Maybe dealers have to place in the system the part ordereing

    Week 19 delivery of engines

50% of engines will be delivered by week 20, that does not mean it will be installed but at least it will be delivered

All engines deliver by week 36, that is pretty long given the 50% residual quantities. So I guess the Category A, those who have already the cars will be sorted by end of May

Another good news, we will get 1 extra year of warranty plus the previously announced set of tirres and Frs 225

Overall, though this is frustrating, Porsche has provided a compeling indemnity.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

    Thanks for the info!

Hope we'll post reviews and other nice pics of our cars very soon! Smiley

Welcome we are all on the same boat. I think when will get the car rolling we will all forget. What could be nice is to group sometime in June for a track and social connection and last but not least a nice picture with all the GT3

I am on the list for a GT3 RS ..... waiting since last fall . But will make my final decision once the specs and photos are out . Tomorrow I will test drive the McLaren 650S .

Yes, I group outing would be nice . On the 29th I am in Hockenheim for an open track day with Wurz Motorsport . Sometimes I do track days with Sport Promotion and then the regular annual Scuderia Hanseat at the Nürburgring in september

    Gnil ok keep me posted

news of the day. I saw the list of the 16 owner with the delivery plan. The first engine coming to Geneva is week 19 and mine is on week 22 so end of May. Apparently the schedule is not done on the delivery of the cars but actually when the ordered was placed. The two guys week 19 got their car after me but ordered before. Now it could be beginning or end of week plus 3 days for shipment to Switzerland between logistic and custom clearance. The you need to count a bit more than a day for the swap.

my dealer has some flex in exchanging weeks between owners as some don't care or want more indemnities while others want to track. As far as I am concerned end of May is fine as got Paul Ricard 3rd week of June. If I can have the car before will see Hockenheim with Gnil and to test my revise setup. Remember I had a first track back in December and since then made the chassis improvement but did not re test.

Would be great to see you in Hockenheim! Smiley In general it will be great to start seeing a few 991 GT3s participate in track days too.

Any accurate information as to how many engines they are building each day and whether they have finished testing? I know you posted before 40 with about 15 being tested but I believe that was a guess on your part.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

    Gents:

Do any of you Rennteam members have confirmed, verifiable information as to when the first MY2015 gt3's (e.g. to European customers that were NOT previously CAT C) will start to be built in Zuffenhausen 991 production/assembly lines?

I have now a confirmed report of a US spec MY2015 991 Targa going into V260 (vehicle entry to body shop) (CP 0.0) on 05/09/2014! That is Friday of next week! So at least some MY2015's non-gt3 991's are starting to be built in Zuffenhausen in May of 2014.

I have stated at the Rennlist Forum in North America that I believe that long standing orders from Rest-0f-World (ROW) customers for MY2015 gt3's will go into production in June of 2014, at the very latest!  The modified gt3 engines are already in production and these gt3 orders have been already programmed into Porsche's sophisticated 'Just-in-Time' & 'Just-in-Sequence' production scheduling in Zuffenhausen. The reason Cat C (MY2014 gt3 customer orders that never started production due to 'Stop Sale') in North America, and perhaps elsewhere, have all been re-scheduled to September as MY2015 gt3's (I believe) is to allow any change in specs (or perhaps even cancellations) to those cars to be taken into account and changes scheduled correctly & with adequate time by the factory. Others at the Rennlist Forum believe than the factory has promised that no MY2015 gt3 will be built in Zuffenhausen until all MY2014 Cat A & B gt3's are re-fitted with the new engines and that all Cat C customers get priority over any other early MY2015 gt3's.  Because of this type of thinking, they have speculated that MY2015 gt3 production will not start for any customer cars in Zuffenhausen until late August or early September of 2014!

We will know soon who is right.  I don't believe that theory of delayed start of MY2015 production. I maintain that MY2015 gt3's will start rolling off the production lines this June (at the latest) for - at the minimum - ROW gt3 customers! I would love to hear from any customer outside of North America that knows with certainty that his/her MY2015 gt3 is being built in late May/June/July of 2014 (as a MY2015, not MY2014). Thank you.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

what I been told last week was 40 engines produced a day but only 25 would exit due to the bench testing. Since then, all dealers should have received the delivery week for their customer, at least I saw mine yesterday which was week 22.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Thanks. Do you know when they will start producing the 2015's? Poster above believe in June. If correct, those of us who haven't seen our cars (we are waiting for engines) would be placed in the inevitable position of owning a 2014 never driven while the 2015's are on the road.

Doesn't 2015 model year always start after the summer factory holiday ?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

I have always believed that unless they are introducing a new model like the Targa?yes

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

    Gnil:

Doesn't 2015 model year always start after the summer factory holiday ?

That is historical myth.  Even my MY1973 911T (VIN # 9113100035) was built on first day of MY1973 production - in early July of 1972!  That was way before the August holidays that closed down the factory.  We have had instances for certain models (e.g. MY2011 gt3 RS or MY2012 Boxster Spyders) where the MY production started extremely early - in March or April of calendar 2010 & 2011 respectively!  Neither of these models were 'new' (like the current Targa) when early MY production took place, so that is not the limiting factor!  Start of model year is all predicated in a variety of factors - compliance with country regulations at vehicle's destinations, Euro-Cycle emissions deadlines*, supplier issues (Just-in-Time/ Just-in-Sequence logistics), etc.  Lucky for Porsche, this is NOT a facelift year re: the 991!  So the model year changes are minimal.

MY2015 991 Targas will start production next week, I don't see why all other 991 models would also start MY2015 in that time-frame.  The uncertainty regarding when MY2015 gt3's will start production is based on the consequences of the stop sale & modified gt3 engine production.  Here is a typical post on the subject from Rennlist in the US today:

"The US COO said to me last week, ALL 2015 GT3's set for production as of the time we spoke are only for the 2014 customers that their cars never started production. Guys not sure how much clearer that can be. No other GT32015's are planned for production beyond the 2014 customers."

I highly doubt that.  I believe that ROW customers with allocations for early MY2015 gt3's will be built on schedule when ever MY2015 starts for 991's (assuming gt3 engine issues are solved).  So let me ask again, does anyone in this forum knows for certain of a MY2015 gt3 vehicle scheduled for production in May, June or July of 2014?  Thank you in advance for your responses.

    Saludos, Eduardo Vail Valley, Colorado

*There is a Euro-Cycle 6 emissions deadline on 1st September, 2014 but we don't know how that will impact the not-so-economical NA gt3 motor!

Good news indeed. I wonder whether all the engine replacement will be done by the dealers. A couple weeks ago I was told PCNA that Porsche will be sending technicians to the US for the installations. This would make sense since it would be cheaper but slower.Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

For us in Switzerland the swap will be done the dealer. IT ia fairly easy job and I have full confidence. For the record a friend with a 997 RS 4.0l got his engine swap 2 times already...so they are used to this. The dealer bought also a special lift for engine replacement as he has 16 to do. He mentioned the whole installation will take about a day and 1/2. I promise to send pictures...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Curious, with German labor agreements are they required to work overtime? The context of my question is the production of GT3 engines. Porsche needs to produce close to 800 engines in a short time and I wonder whether they  can ask workers to put in overtime hours to "catch up".

Of course this assuming all the parts are readily available.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

well they screw up so guess they have a willingness to work overtime. German labor law is less stringent than French. then I guess they trained additional operators to built extra unit on additional shift

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

forgot to add that they head of production was recently fired

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

It does appear six german technicians will be sent to the three US ports (San Diego, Houston and Rhode Island) where many cars are located and they will do the installations. No decision regarding cars at the dealerships.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

That reminds me when I had the Nissan GT-R and engine swap. All cars in Europe where send to Belgium and Japanese technician came. I must say having lived both swap Nissan was much faster in addressing the swap but without any indemnity., so all credit to Porsche which is the first ever to my knowledge. Be patient things will all be sorted and you will enjoy this fantastic car. Last year first drive and factory setting, discovering the car

Philippe, fantastic video! Great driving, wonderful technique. You were relentless behind the turbo. The cars passing you, were they Cup or RS's?

BTW, I love how cool and calm your passenger was. Obviously she is experienced riding with you Once she left the passenger seat it freed you up to be more aggressive.

How does the GT3 measure up to the GT-R?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)
