That forum has devolved in both tone and content.  Some posters  have developed such an aggressive and  unreasoning antipathy for the 991 GT3 that discussion has been rendered pointless. Unless I read it here on Rennteam or from another independent source providing verified information, the statements cannot be taken seriously.

I have witnessed the strong emotions on both sides, but I would be more than surprised if someone falsified this "evidence".  There is no reason to suspect any of the posters of outright lies.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

I am well known in the Porsche community for over 15 years now. Rennteam is around for more than 10 years. People like Carlos, Dario, Easy, Gary, MKGSR, Joel and others are around for at least the same amount of time, their words are respected in the Porsche community worldwide and I know that Porsche knows about that too.

Meaning: I don't say we are always right but we are not just a bunch of anonymous people posting on the internet. I know many of the above users and others PERSONALLY, I met with them, they met with me. Porsche knows me and some of the others too, personally. We are not anonymous, even if it may look that way to many of you who are not that long on this forum.

Bottom line is: I think that people already learned who to trust. We may not be always right (how could we, we are not an official forum) but I think we provided a lot of useful information to the community in the past and the number of loyal LONG TIME users prove my point.

Regarding the GT3 issues: I am happy Porsche caught them in time. Unfortunately some people, who already had some serious antipathy towards the new GT3, are using these issues to make the GT3 look bad. The new GT3 is a wonderful car and in my opinion the best offer so far from Porsche. Sh.t happens, it is very unfortunate that there is a delay in production but like I said before, I am glad that Porsche caught the issues in time and that at some point, the cars will go to customers.

It was in response to the post on rennlist about the alleged GT3 problems.

Don't worry, I did not misunderstand you.  I was also referring to that guy posting on Rennlist about the failures during journalist test drives. Smiley

You read here first about the issues involved and how long the cars may be delayed. As a future GT3 owner, I would be p.ss.d about the delay, no doubt about it but on the other hand, I would be happy that Porsche caught the issues in time. Just imagine what would have happened if they didn't...a disaster for them and even more for owners. This is why Porsche has a quality control and does tons of test drives, to make sure that such things are caught in time. I always said that it would be more useful to provide potential customers or good customers with test cars before the official production start but I guess this is a liability issue, so they give the pre-production cars to Porsche employees and journalists. Not sure however this is the best method to avoid serious issues because Porsche employees may be biased and while car journalists drive the crap out of the cars, they are not potential owners and may drive the cars only a few days and/or in a different way than owners would. Just saying...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Thanks Pete. I was going to pick it up in Switzerland and drive it in Europe for 4-5 weeks. Now with the delay I dont mind so much - infact if the delay is a decent 3 months I may be able to ave delivered in Feb and stored until arriving in April/May and spend 6 weeks over spring/summer with the car. Maybe we can even do a drive together in Germany (is that where you live?). So the delay could work well for me if its 3 months, also the Euro can weaken for me so my final invoice is "cheaper" LOL! Nothing seems to work that way with me and cars but it would be nice...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

would love to have a drive with you. austria/italy/germany/switzerland all ok.

    p

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Great. Let see what happens with deliveries, but those countries are all on our list to visit with the GT3 (assuming May trip)...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

For me engine sound is more and more important, you don't always use the power, but you always hear the rumbling coming from the engine bay. GT3 seems to be wonderfuL on this regard.

Engine sound is definitely a factor to consider and I am glad that Porsche started to understand (991 Turbo S). However, don't be too excited: The GT3 sounds great indeed but not necessarily in the speed/rev range most people would normally use on the street. Some may be disappointed but I love the sound, especially over 5000 rpm. Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

The GT3's only really sound good over 5000 rpm from my ownership experience. Idle and being wrung out, otherwise just sound a bit trashier and harsher than the cooking 911 otherwise. My 993 and 993 RS sound pretty good by comparison on most rev ranges above 3500 but then I do have  a cat bypass and modified exhaust. The turbos IMO sounds muted compared to the NA engines.

Dario, as soon as you have your car, I know a company who does almost every kind of design with foil. So if you really want to...costs around 3-5k EUR, depending on design and color. You can make your GT3 RS look like a race car. Smiley

yes,yes thanks...but i prefer to leave it "stock"...and,due there is on the options of the 918 a Martini decals set...maybe also on the Gt3 RS we can have them...Smiley

if not,a "good" blue with white/orange RS decals can work too..Smiley

also a signal yellow with black decals will be ok!!
