    Porsche 991 discount from new

I read somewhere on this forum although I can not find it now that some UK dealers were potentially offering 7-9% of new orders

If that is the case it is very good for me if they even offer me 7% as I may have to pay less overall

    Does anyone

1 Know which dealer this is ? Area

2 Reversing camera --am I right in thinking USA is making it mandatory from this year so even the 991 will be duty bound to have it installed

Re: Porsche 991 discount from new

    1. Your best bet is to phone round and see if any dealers have got stock cars in their showroom that they are struggling to shift, factory orders are unlikely to attract the best discounts, the downside of this is you probably won't get your ideal spec.

But there are so many good low mileage used 991's around - at 25% + discount - why don't you look at that option?

    2. Don't bargain that just because certain equipment becomes mandatory in the USA it is going to appear here as standard - the absolutely essential TPMS has been standard "over there" for years but it's still on the option list here, although I believe at long last the EU are catching up and requiring this valuable safety aid to be fitted as standard soon.

One must ask the question... Why are there so many low mileage used 991's around attracting those levels of discount?

Are they ex-demo, or cars returned by disenchanted buyers, or early re-possessions, or what?

Either way they are likely to have been abused in one form or another and certainly likely not to have been broken in correctly.... Not my 'cup of tea' I'm afraid..enlightened

I can only speak from personal experience - our own 997 is 4 years old, had two previous owners and 21k miles on it when we purchased it and it drives like it was brand new. It was also £40k less than it cost new.

As long as you buy from a Porsche dealer and the car has the full 2 year Porsche warranty and full service  history ( if applicable) all should be fine.

I take your point DC, but I was referring to 991's up to only 1 year old and with really low mileage.

Your car is very likely to have been well treated by the previous owners.

It wasn't perfect John, the paint work was quite flat and needed full professional Zymol detailing to bring it back to the Porsche deep shine - John Drake our detailing expert reckoned the car had never been garaged or waxed in it's life. Which reminds me I must book him up to give it the full works again. Still wondering whether to spend £200 + VAT to have the rear section of the centre console painted in aqua blue as I hate the cheap and nasty plastic finish.

As stated by Dreamcar, the best option is to phone around. I had a dealer offer close to 10% discount on a brand new car...my spec. At the same time there are loads of 991S out here for very good money but if you want to personalise and you keep your cars for a long time like me then the best thing is to spec it yourself.

Re: Porsche 991 discount from new

I think those discounts may have passed in the UK - there are much lower allocations of 991 for 2013 I'm told.

But I'd echo what's already been said - if you time it right and find a stock car to your liking, I would think 10% achievable. FWIW I considered used low mileage car but the offer I found made more sense personally. It's nice to have the 2013 MY updates also.

If I would find with Specs I could live with and if the car is likely not older than 18 months and not more than 10.000 km (6000 miles) - why not buying an pre-owned then? Especially if the car would be from the Dealer or Porsche Factory. I never ever bought a pre-owned but nowadays I think the cars are build in such a high quality and the financial depreciation is that strong - why should I eat all the loss? For me absolutely an option when buying the next car

Smiley Same here. Only thing I would change immediately on such a car: The tires. I won't driver higher speeds with tires I "do not know" (maybe the previous owner abused them, driving over boardwalk edges, too low tire pressure, etc.). Looking at the current prices of used 991, the itch started again (just kidding...can't afford it, one car has to go first).

I'm in the same boat ( not that boat RC) Smiley except I would struggle to financially justify a low mileage 981, let alone a 991 Smiley
