Yes, that "suction" noise is slightly louder, can be nice on some cars, a cheap mod but don't expect any power gains.
Just be careful with the warranty though, Porsche may or may not like the airfilter change, it depends on your dealer if he reports it (in the case of an engine problem) or not. It is however a mod nobody can really track, so you should be fine.

I do not agree on all points with that article, K&N filters are not a scam, there are other sport airfilter manufacturers too and their filters are used especially for tuned/modded cars where more air flow is essential for their kits to work within specs. I just don't think they provide stock cars with more power or any fuel consumption advantages but thats a completely different story.
