    Stuttgart, 1 March, 2013

Porsche AG has not only begun the year particularly successful, but 2013 also marks the anniversary of the company's most iconic car: the Porsche 911 has for the last 50 years been equally at home on the racetrack as on the road. Its genetic DNA can be found in every other Porsche model. At over 820,000 units built, the 911 is the world’s most successful sports car ever. In addition to the anniversary, the International Motor Show in Geneva also provides a stage for two particularly sporty premieres on the Porsche stand in hall 1.

The title ‘World Premiere’ truly applies here to the first appearance of an extremely exciting 911 model, which awaits with new engineering highlights, plus a whole lot more. The car’s driving dynamics and driving excitement are at an even higher level than before. For the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup this will be its first public unveiling. Delivering 460 hp, this single-make cup racer is the latest version of the car, which is, with a total of 2,400 units, the best-selling and most successful sports car in the world. The new 911 GT3 Cup is initially being deployed in the international Porsche Supercup 2013.

    ...So, let's wait and see...

I really don't understand those "Top Secret" games Porsche plays a week before release Smiley  If I would know for sure that GT3 will appear at Ganeva M.S. I would go there...but since it's a BIG secret I wouldn't take a chance.

WASHINGTON — Porsche is recalling 2,263 2012-'13 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera 4 cars equipped with a standard exhaust system because the tailpipe may detach, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"The exhaust tailpipe may fracture and separate from the rear muffler," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. "If the exhaust tailpipe separates from the muffler, it may become a hazard for other vehicles on the road, increasing the risk of a crash."

Vehicles with the optional sport exhaust system are not affected. The affected 911s were manufactured from March 7, 2012 through November 12, 2012. The recall affects coupes and convertible models.

Porsche told federal safety regulators it is not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from the defect. It also said it is not aware of any defects or reported failures on any customer-owned vehicles. All defects determined to date were reported on internal Porsche test vehicles with 25,000 miles or more on the odometer.

Porsche dealers will replace the rear mufflers. A date has not yet been set for the recall.

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

PCNA apparently already informed potential customers that deliveries will arrive from nov 13..which means- GT3 presentation in geneva.

Nonetheless, I wonder whether its so good for Porsche to present at such a "publicity event" a 991 GT3 and the 991 GT3 CUP together/besides. The first question that will come up - and would come from me too - "why these cars have different engines"...what we discussed here too.

If the official answer in front of the camerars would be: "dont worry, from next year on all 991 racing versions will use exactly the same engine as the 991 GT3 - street"..then I would be secured..if there was a different answer..then..I will not be in the market for the 991 GT3...and it would result in some pretty bleak faces..I suppose

Can anybody go there directly and ask that question for me - and report back to rennteam..?:)..dont have time next week for geneva..nice area..but another time..and then if they dont present a GT3 and just another 911 special version..my time would be waisted..

Since it's the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 -- and given the official "teaser" press release below -- we should expect a couple of really AMAZING cars to be unveiled at Geneva...

The aniversay it 9/63.  I know.  I was born on Sept. 30 1963 (interesting factoid - James Dean died Sept 30th, a few years prior).  All aniversary editions since have been presented in September.  They are always the same age as me!  We are twins.  Nice -

I think you seriously over-estimate how many people who buy 911s know what a Cup is or what engine it's got.

People on forums are the very small minority that know and care, 99% of 911 owners don't join clubs or forums. I'd bet that 50% of 911 owners don't even know it's got a flat-six and that 20% don't even know the engine's in the back......

hmm,.,if you were talking about a normal 997 or normal 991 - I would agree to 100%. But GT3 buyers are a bit a different animal..they know their cars quite well..a GT3 is not a "fashion toy"..not yet. And I hope it remains a car that is on purpose harder, louder, more difficult to drive whatever.

I have difficulty understanding how someone can get worked up over a new Porsche model. Have you all forgotten they almost look the same as the previous models. Yes, they make cosmetic exterior changes but the car will look very similar to the previous GT3.

Most of the changes will be within the car as related to performance. I for one cannot see those changes (unless I have X-ray vision) but rather must experience them.

Assuming that Porsche are looking for maximum impact for the 50th anniversary of the 911 in 2013...

Geneva Motor Show: 5-17 March 2013

    • Porsche 991 Turbo
    • Porsche 991 GT3

Frankfurt Motor Show: 10-22 September 2013

    • Porsche 991 Anniversary Edition
    • Porsche 991 Turbo S
    • Porsche 991 GT3 RS

    Smiley SmileySmiley

...indeed, the Porsche 997 Turbo world premiere...

...and the Porsche 997 GT3 world debut...

...were both at the Geneva Motor Show back in February 2006! Smiley
