    Protective film.....

    Has anyone used this type of protective film to stop the stonechips on the front of their cars

    Is it any good and what type have you used...?

    I'm going to have Paintshield fitted: it uses the best film and the front PU is Pounds250 fitted to my new 997 C4S. Bonnet and wings is a further Pounds250 fitted - but that only covers the leading edges of the front wings and half the bonnet.

    Does it look like the paint finish or is it dull, or if it is shiny to begin with does it dull after time ......

    Cheers.........it's a damn sight cheaper than painting the front end and it also keeps the original paint finish.

    I had Armorglove installed on my previous car (Lexus SC430) and it's worth every cent! If you value your paint, then by all means have it installed. Go with the new 3M Aerospace film as it's more clear than others and no orage peel look like the older films have. Have a quality installer do it. See if you can view other work they've done and seek advise from previous customers.

    Once my C2S arrives, Armorglove will be doing the work seeing this finish is black.

    The protective film from 3M works like a charm, but the key is the installer. Make sure they are careful at the edges or else once they start to peal, you need to redo all of it!

    I am very, very happy with my Venture shield clear bra on my '05 997 cab. Installed Aug. 2005, and it remains tight, clear and shiny. My front end looks virtually showroom new. The key though is getting it professionally installed by the best, most reputable installer possible. Premier Mobile of California installed mine while on a group install in Austin, Tx.

    One other tip - apply Rejex (bumperplugs.com) to the front end bra and bugs won't stick to your bra and, most importantly, won't stain it either.

    I'm getting a product called Stonesheild by Avery-Dennison done for the hood and bumper of my 997S as soon as I take delivery next month. My Infiniti G35 Coupe has been completely chipped and dented in just 30K miles. I regret not protecting it and am not goint to make the same mistake twice.

    Depends on how much you want to get done....3M Scotchguard on the front bumper only in my area is about $1,000 --- probably three times that to do the hood, door edges, sills, etc. This is inclusive of labor of course.
