Spoke to my service manager today - said the best tires for the car are either the Michelin's or the Pirelli's. He advises against the Conti's because of how the tire tread is installed - mentioned something about how Michelin/Pirelli's are threaded and the Conti's are simply glued. Also told me about multiple times where customers would have shredded tires. Unfortunately I have the Contis on my 987S (I like them, can't really complain, but feels a little soft).
He recommends the Michelins for BEST handling, and especially if you are tracking the car often. The Pirellis according to him were the quietest, more comfortable than the Michelin's but do not handle as well.
some people say that pirelli are quiter some say that michelins are quiter
some say that pirelli are more confortable some say that michelins are more confortable
changed my wheels for factory carreraS with fitted tyres and they sent me Contis
What i noticed in the one only day i got them is they got a very nice and heavy duty-looking at least- protective lip shape at their edge to protect the rims...
bigger than the michelins and of course much more bigger than the almost non existent lip in pirellis
hOW ABOUT ASKING PEOPLE IF THEY HAVE TRIED ANY OTHER TIRE ON THE 997? UNLESS YOU HAVE ACTUALLY COMPARED THEM THAT WAY, IT MEANS NOTHING ---- GIVEN THAT THERE ARE N DESIGNATION ON THEM ALL.
