We are just in few weeks before an official GT3 teaser. No way there is no one on RT, who knows what wing will be attached on the final product.... C'mon folks, spill a little bit info....  I don't need any details, the only thing I want to know at this time will it AeroKit wing as on the latest mules, or it will be something diffirent.....It would more than enough form me..... DxPetrov, your info about the wing is bulletproof? smiley

I'm afraid as well... Porsche's strategy normally is to reveal more and more of a car in the weeks running up to the release. I cant remember ever having seen a big surprise like an entirely different wing... :-( Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

    2013 Porsche 911 GT3 preview by Evo...

    (30 January 2013)

"The Porsche 911 GT3 has been a firm evo favourite for years. Versions of this car have picked up no less than five evo Car of the Year awards, in fact. However, the new 2013, 991-generation GT3 looks set to prompt a slight change in direction for the sports car with road racer vibes.

It will be revealed around spring 2013, so little is official yet. But with a Nurburgring lap time a top priority (and a Nissan GT-R to topple), we expect the car will come with a seven-speed PDK twin-clutch gearbox, offered as an option at the very least.  This would make the 991 the first GT3 road car two pedals. Whether Porsche’s new seven-speed manual gearbox appears as standard remains to be seen, but if so it would likely be the purist’s choice.

We’ve been told the new GT3’s power output will split the difference between the 997-generation GT3 3.8 and GT3 RS 4-litre, meaning something around the 470bhp mark. This won’t be provided by the much-loved Mezger flat-six engine that continues service in the 911 GT3 Cup racing car, though. For the first time, the engine link between road and track is broken, the road-going 991 GT3 instead using a version of the 911 Carrera S’s naturally aspirated 3.8-litre direct injection unit.

The good news is that it sounds fantastic in the 991 Carrera S, and continues to have a motorsport feel to its power delivery. As ever, the GT3 will be rear-wheel drive, leaving four-wheel drive to the 911 Turbo – also expected to be unveiled at some point in 2013.

Looks wise, we can only speculate on the new 911 GT3. But our artist’s rendering should give a good idea of what to expect. Wider track widths (and a wider body to accommodate), centre-locking nut alloy wheels and an evocative rear wing are all GT3 staples, and Porsche’s evolutionary design philosophy is unlikely to see these binned. We wholeheartedly approve.

And expect a strong contender in our Car of the Year shootout..."

We are now almost 4 weeks away from the premiere... When the 997 GT3 was launched 4 years ago did anyone on Rennteam have any inside info before the premiere? Seems like there is no inside info this time round...

A bunch of rumors on Rennlist, including new Motorsports motor that is neither Mezger nor 9A1 with DFI, Ti conrods, and 9k redline.  Also some hints at surprise with PDK-S, not just lighter...

What do u mean kreso ? Please be more specific !

    I had 997 gt3 mk1, and sold last year my 997 gt3 mk2 (amazing car).

I liked the manual tranny and can be considered as a purist. Still not convinced by pdk.

why do you think I would not be happy with new gt3?

I have waited so long to see it, and now buying again a 997RS  or even a black mk2 is growing on me.....

please be more specific kreso ! Thx a lot. I m dying now .......Smiley

Few hints since my P source is reading rennteam daily. New GT3 will be far more technically advanced then any previous versions. Sporty PDK is very important for new GT3.
We can even say that it will be start of new era for GT3...

My interpretation:  Mandatory PDK, PDCC, Torque-Vectoring, center-lock wheels, and 4-wheel steering?

Thanks for this Kreso... Just enough for me to keep my sanity for a little longer...

I don't mind new technology as long as the car is exciting to drive, as a GT3 should be.

Manual is a thing of the past for track oriented sports car. Ferrari did away with it years ago, as did F1 and even 911 cup. Time to cut the cord and move to the future.

Not really true where the 911 Cup is concerned. It used the same manual transmission as the GT3 as its basis, and just had a manual shift with a sequential-type straight gate integrated into it.

...as does(did) the RSR. Most GT racing regulations do not allow automated gearboxes.

    ACO- GTE regulations:

    Rule 28: Electronic systems

    2.8.1
Any automatic or electronic control system or function is
forbidden : chassis control, automatic or semi-automatic
transmissions, clutches, final drive differential system, shock
absorbers, suspension or ride height adjustment, anti-lock
    braking, four wheel steering, etc.

Hmm, I wonder if this strategy leaves enough room for the next Turbo. Smiley

Won't there be a conflict between a technically advanced, but less raw GT3 (and GT2 I guess) and an also technically advanced, more GT-like Turbo?

Not really since despite PDK new GT3 will be a true GT3 in its core. It will have state of the art NA high reving engine, most sporty suspension that can be used daily(and at the same time is even better on the track then any previous version of GT3) without any problem(except ground clearance). New GT3 is in its character totally different beast then forthcoming Turbo.

991 Turbo will be on th eother hand more sporty then ever, but with its own character. Usable on the track, but mostly at thome on windy road and autobahn(where it will kill almost anything on the road). State of the art new turbo engine and even better PDK. Unique body(that will be used for GT3 RS) that will different it from rest of 991 range.

BTW, 991 GT3 RS will appeal to purists as well...

    Dear Kreso F1,

did I understand you right that new GT3 and Turbo will use new engines developed from scratch? or deep modifications of previous versions?

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

New development and extensive redesign of current ones.
