I forgot to tell you that I put my 458 on a scale after the track event. One of my friend's factory is nearby so we went there with a few other cars to weight the cars. And the results:

    - My car had 15-20 litre of fuel in the tank and tipp the scale by 1470 kg~3234 lbs.

    - My friend's 599 weighted @ 1690 kg~3720 lbs with 1/2 fuel tank.

1.470 kg is not bad at all. Smiley

I guess so. My weight saving options are only the race buckets and some alcantara. But I don't have tech equipment such as Navi, front lift, JBL etc.

So with the ful tank, I estimate it weights around 1520 kg.

Re: Bye Bye M3, Welcome 458 İtalia

I had some performance tests last night and measured 100-200 km/h acceleration times via Performance V-box. I did several runs with a passanger who is approx. 80 kg and did a single run without the passanger. The fuel tank was 65-70% full.

The best time is (without the passanger) 6,19 sec on a -2% slope (up untill -3% is allowed as some of you may know)

Here are the dbn files of the runs:

I made a separate thread about this subject here:

    http://www.rennteam.com/forum/page1.html?vs=10#PostDetailsTitlePortlet

However, I want to keep this thread going, so I post the results here also.

Re: Bye Bye M3, Welcome 458 İtalia

Here is a little update on my beloved car. The car is @2800 km. So far I attended 2 track days. This weekend is coming the 3rd one and after that I will attend another one @Istanbul Park which was our ex-F1 circuit. Then in May, I'll go to İzmir that is approx. 500 km away from where I live to attend another Track day. Then I stop till September. I don't want to push it too much in hot summer days.

I absolutely love the car. I don't really care if the new upgraded Mp4 is faster than italia. I love everything about the car. On my recent track day, I did 49,5 sec which is the second fastest time for a street car ever tested/driven on that track including Turkish pro/race drivers, as far as I know. The best time is 49,1 sec which belongs to a friend of mine. He did this time with a tuned mk3 Nissan GT-R angry He did 51,9 with a tuned 997.1 Turbo.

Here are a few roll videos:

This roll against a tuned 997.1 Turbo (Ecu upgrade, cat-delete, intake kit, PCCB) which I just mentioned above. The car is said to have approx. 580 hp after the mods. My friend does "brake boost" which explains the jump start once we started rolling. I also had a passanger in the car and the Turbo had none. But the final result is inevitable.

Also, I did several highspeed runs against my friend's 2010 430 Scuderia. Both cars are bone-stock. These videos are from our longest run. I hit 280+ km/h and he told me that he hit approx. 270 km/h. 2 angles from opposite cars:

Here is the run recorded from my car:

In the video, we start rolling around 9 sec (approx. from 80 km/h) and I hit 282 km/h @29 sec.

Re: Bye Bye M3, Welcome 458 İtalia

As promised before, here is a new video of me lapping @Körfez Race Track (2 km, narrow and short Track which is approx. 100km away from me) with my 458.

I couldn't lap faster than my previous Best Time of 49,5. So there is no improvement there.

Since I had delivered the car, I attended 3 track days @Körfez and did more than 150 laps. Now my tires are shot only at 3300 km angry

This Sunday, I'll attend another Track Day event @İstanbul Park, the ex-F1 Circuit. I ordered new tires, this time Pirelli P Zero. I'll keep you updated.

Nice video! I am assuming you are on MPSS at the moment?

Yes, I have MPSS right now. They are very good for street tires and warm-up quickly on the streets. BUT, on the track, they got too hot and start to fall apart. I'm told that P zeros have harder compound so they are worse on the street since they need more heat to get sticky but good for track abuse.

This is the theory. I'll see. Smiley

Re: Bye Bye M3, Welcome 458 İtalia

Another update and let me summarize what I have done with the car so far:

    1) The car is @8560 km right now. I'm on my 5th set of tires and on my 3rd set of front/rear brake pads (the first sets came with the car when new is counted). Front rotors are 27% worn and rears are 40% worn.

    2) I still have the BMC Carbon fiber airbox but still haven't test the acceleration of the car by measuring 100-200 km/h. In stock form, I did measure 6,19 sec on a 2% downhill slope. Corrected time was 6,4 sec

    3) I have the lap record of Körfez Race Track in street legal cars category. My best time is 48,049 sec -actually which I did twice- w/Trofeo R tires. That is about 1,5 sec quicker than my best lap time w/Michelin PSS.

Here are the latest best times. First 2 cars are 458 italia and 3rd Car is 430 Scuderia. All of the cars had Trofeo R tires and track alignment.

Here is my record breaking consecutive 4 runs:

Unfortunately I don't have the video of my fastest 4 consecutive laps but here is My other 8 laps from the day:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QHvua92bAs

    4) I choose to put Speciale front tire size on my last set of Pirelli P Zero tires which is 245/35/20 instead of 235/35/20. This size works better than stock size which is indeed little skinny for 8,5" wide rims. Front tire side wall incresed by 3,5 mm which means the front of the car raises by 3,5 mm and front fender gap is closed by 3,5 mm. Since I lowered the front suspension by 13mm and rear suspension by 10mm, front to rear rack of the suspension setup is unchanged.

    5) My best lap time of 2:12.383 @Istanbul Park has been passed by 3 cars -2 of which are heavily modified 997.1 Turbo and the other one is my friend w/his 458 italia that is only 0.068 sec faster than me on a 5,3 km track. I'll be back for a faster time in the spring smiley

    http://www.intercitypark.com/pist-dereceleri/

Here are the latest photos of my car which I took last Sunday night before going back Home from a Sunday Movie Night:

I believe I have just find the perfect ride hight for the car that is a good setup for the track, leaves enough clearance for not scratching the bottom of the car and takes away the SUV height of the fender gaps.

Interior of the car still smells new indecision

Last photo of the day: Lapping @Istanbul Park.

This video is taken by a spectator from outside of the track on one of the Istanbul Park Track Days on which I broke the lap record in November.

Your ownership experience is a tastement to what seems to be a great reliability record for the 458, you have been using it to the extreme limit in and out circuit  without any real problem, great result. Keep the updates and pics coming, this is one of my favourite threads.

What would actually now be very interesting is if you could do the track with a GT3 / RS and see what time you do.
