Hmm, and these rearlights also provide a nice opportunity for a LED strip on the Panny 4 and 4S :-)
I'm still totally into the woods as to why/what car the bumper is from that they use to cover the real thing. The position of the fake.covered rearlights on that thing is intriguing...

Why would you have to do cold weather testing on a facelift? (or is this not testing at all and just normal driving to and from the office)?
Are there other changes besides just cosmetic ones?
1. engines
2. chassis
3. new body parts and lights need to be tested under extreme/real life conditions
Porsche always tests facelifts very thoroughly, this is nothing new.

So there will be engine and chassis changes?
If so, then that makes sense.

Couldn't resist ( posted this on Jun1st 2009 )
The rear isn't even close to the real thing...
Speaking of chassis and engine changes: Porsche does these changes all the time, not only for facelifts but customers usually don't notice them because they happen "under the hood". The facelift gets slightly more substantial changes, this is all.

Why not ?? Since ALDO didn't ( couldn't ) tell - doors are open . Panamera should be closer to 991 then to Cayenne SUV !
I have said the next Panamera will look great - much more #§$%%&&%% ( some internet noise during my post :) )Nothing more nor less :)
Right...no 911 front for the Panamera facelift (and no Gran Turismo rear either).
The next generation will be very nice though, I've seen the sketch of a sketch and it was looking as some kind of child born from the unification of the current Panamera and the latest Audi A8.

For me it is not advisable to tell anything I have heard or seen - sorry guys.
Every model in the Porsche family will get a specific design, it already started (911, Boxster/Cayman, Cayenne front). Only the Panamera still doesn't fit in yet but it will with the facelift.
This also means that none of the other models get the 911 front/rear design, period.
The Panamera facelift will however have a little bit from the Boxster/Cayman on the rear...

RC, I am a bit confused by your post. You say all models will have a specific design which has already started, and that Panamera facelift will fit in to that design. But then you say that "none of the other models will have the 911 front and rear design". Can you clarify?

No, Porsche management had reacted on the demand for more storage in the Panamera range, so starting with the facelift they will have two drawers over the rear bumpers.

What's with those ugly square red cutouts on the rear bumper? For the test mules only?
Yes, this is part of the camo.
So here is what we know so far:
1. Modified rear bumper to make the car look less "massive"
2. Different backlights (similar design to old ones but smaller with LED stripes instead of single dots, not the Grand Turismo design)
3. Modified front bumper to make the car look less massive (but changes more subtle vs. the rear)
4. Different front lights (similar to the Grand Turismo but not exactly the same, LED front lights optional)
5. Modest power bump (S - 420 hp, Turbo - 530 hp, V6 - 320-330 hp, Diesel - 270-280 hp)
6. New S Diesel model with AWD possible, GTS and Turbo S are still question mark though (power bump would be 450 hp and 580 hp respectively) because the new Panamera generation is expected in 2015.
7. Interior gets only modest changes/improvements, larger PCM display possible

Thanks RC, very informative. Power bumps seem attractive--30HP more in the Turbo should be noticeable, for example.
Also, won't there be some side skirt changes? Side skirt treatments, if done nicely, can have a real affect on appearance..
