    Porsche owner at long last!

Well, 2013 has started expensive for me lol

A few of you may already know that I have sold my Lotus 2-Eleven a few months back.
After 6 years of Lotus ownership I have had my share of mechanical unreliability and moments of vexation everytime I got overtaken by the many GT3's at the Ring Smiley I thought it time to finally get a beast like that myself Smiley
I have found this gem in Italy just a week ago, and it is in perfect condition, except for the brakes/tires which need replacing. The inspection made for a nice little vacation trip together with my wife through Switzerland (we loved Lugano, sunny weather at 21°C) and beautiful Italy. I shall write more about the car once I have it registered here in Luxembourg.

Enjoy the teaser photo meanwhile :

P.S. I must admit that I was hugely surprised at how hard I had to push the clutch  Smiley

Re: Porsche owner at long last!

Re: Porsche owner at long last!

Congrats, a buy you will not regret. Looks mint and the color fits it very well too. How come tires/brakes are done?? Does it have lots of milage or was it just used properly on the track? Looking forward to more pics and your review soon!

Re: Porsche owner at long last!

    Whoa! Congrats. What a beauty

    Congrats!

    GT3 in Red  Smiley

Don't worry about the clutch, you'll get used to it once you get a hold of it (5 mins max for me back in 2008 when I picked up my GT Zwei) 911 GT cars were meant to be RAW and deliver an intense driving experience.

I'd install Pilot Super Sport Tires for the time being and stay away from Cups till the sun starts shining Smiley

Edit: I think edmund.com agrees with me on the RAW part Smiley

Re: Porsche owner at long last!

Congrats on your beautiful red GT3. Smiley There is something special about the 997 design-- a certain WOW factor-- that only a photo can describe! I'm looking forward to your future posts and don't forget plenty of pictures Smiley Smiley

Congratulatiions - very nice car wink

I am looking forward to spot it here in Luxembourg

Re: Porsche owner at long last!

    Many, many congratulations!!!

Re: Porsche owner at long last!

Congratulations, you've got yourself the best 997 in the most beautiful color possible (not that I'm biased... ;) You're in for a real treat everytime you take it out. And you'll get used to the clutch, once your left thigh is twice the size of the right one.

    Enjoy it in good health!

Here's what it will look like in Spa:

Luckily, he didn't get a Cayman (he was tempted, I know Smiley) but went for the real deal instead. Coming from a Lotus and a lot of track fun, the GT3 was the only way to go. Smiley

Can't wait for more photos and some track driving experience in spring.

Re: Porsche owner at long last!

Wow, I feel overwhelmed by the many compliments, thank you so much guys! cool

@Matt C: Thanks mate, it's reassuring to know that. Doesn't Porsche always advertize that you can take the GT3 to go to the bakery store ? Having my doubts now with this clutch lol.

@Gnil: Go ahead and treat yourself! You also visit the track often and a GT3 will do you good kissI'm crossing my fingers for you.

@reginos, RC: Lol guys, yes, deep down inside I knew that I had to get one. Like RC said, thank God I resisted the Cayman....it was really tempting me, nasty PAG you! indecision

I've always been a big Porsche fan, reason why I registered here on RT almost 10 years ago. It was only a question of time. I loved all my Lotus cars to bits, but when they start suffering engine failures and you have to resolve through a miserable dealership network, that's where the fun suddenly stops.

btw red was not my favorite colour (I dig black a lot, but also fancied white), but once I saw the red in sun light, I was blown away! Very flashy and sporty! Love it!

Anyway, I thank you all for your comments, they are cheering me well up and now it's even harder to wait for spring time. Thanks

Re: Porsche owner at long last!

    Congratulations Gauss.

Fantastic looking car. I hope you will enjoy it.

Re: Porsche owner at long last!

Red was the launch colour of the 7.2 GT3 .. lovely !!

    what's the spec?

Re: Porsche owner at long last!

Red is one of the best colors for the GT3...next to white.

if you had to choose, red or white?

they had/have a red car at Porsche Museum:

Well, when I got that GT3 RS 4.0 offer, the only color coming into my mind was...white. However, I saw a red 997 GT3 at my dealer over a year ago, the owner wanted to get rid of the car and the price tag was interesting, so I almost got the car. Pretty close call but I got the 997 Carrera GTS Cab instead. Smiley

Re: Porsche owner at long last!

    Mate,

feeling very happy for you! Glad that you finally made a choice and obviously a very decent one! Looking forward to see you at the Nordschleife this year and hearing your impressions, especially coming from those lightweight Lotus cars.
