It will be good to see a Turbo engine in the Cayman because this will make the NA GT3 engine even more exclusive and sought after. :)
I don't know anybody who would be in the market for a GT3 or Cayman. Two different buyer groups (with very few exceptions maybe). So I don't think that the Cayman will have any influence on the GT3.
It also seems that Porsche is going to use a new engine for the GT3, not the Mezger type anymore.

As I posted earlier, for more money than this by the time a few option boxes have been ticked? (Porsche Centre Reading £59,900). But with the current market conditions, unless you've got money to burn or it's being bought by a company or perhaps as a very long term keeper buying ANY new top-end car is crazy at the moment.
Thats the point... nowadays you should keep the cars for long. The Car you just listed for 59k Sterling, probably was new 110 - so why would you buy it new? As you said - either you have money to burn or you can depreciate on a company.

I still don't like the rear spoiler integration too much. Ferry Porsche would have called it too "verspielt" (playful).
Otherwise, the Cayman (and new Boxster) design is almost perfect.

I suppose that the protruding rear spoiler was a must for functional reasons Then. probably they found out that it didn't integrate well with the rest of the rear, so they decided to continue the spoiler into the shape of the lights for aesthetic reasons.
I am not very fond of this myself, as a lover of simplicity and minimalism, but OTOH it gives the 981/981C a unique feature that I think, no other car has.
Overall the new Porsche sportscars are very attractive and composed designs without any unnecessary modernities, superfluities or excesses. It's time the design department addressed the rest of the range for some needed improvements.
"Form follows function"
The more I look at the new Cayman, the more I like the car, especially rear lights/spoiler back 3/4 quarters. The new design spoiler looks like duck-tail of 911, to me. I specced a very sporty Cayman S on the configurator and the German list price costs 75.000 Euro without V.A.T.

Yes, the configurater really does need an upgrade.
I heard that Porsche plans a major overhaul, incl. real photos instead of the current images.
You should see meteor grey metallic (Cayenne) on the configurator...it looks like brown (in reality, it is a darker grey).

Just curious. Why would you prefer to have this done in Photoshop instead of using Porsche's car configurator?
because I don't find the colours in the configurator very realistic.
The only sure fire way to see the true colour is to find a dealer with a car in the particular colour you are interested in and go and see it in the metal. Even photographs can deceive, then make sure it is in natural light and not the artificial light of a showroom.

I found out today that I can't order one yet in Australia. Very keen on this car.
However, from the product news my dealer sent me today, it appears there is an interesting feature that is coming in manual cars, but only after June production. So I may have to wait! What do you guys think of this:
2.2 Sport Chrono Package – Intermediate acceleration in combination withmanual transmission
The optional Sport Chrono Package including dynamic transmission mounts in the latest stage of its development now also has intermediate acceleration in combination with manual transmission. The function is activated by pressing the SPORT PLUS button and results in downshifts that are very sporty and demonstrative. In addition, smoother load changes are thereby achieved, the stability of the vehicle during sporty braking with downshifting has been improved.
3 Transmission
The standard 6-speed manual transmission has a significant influence on driving performance as well as on comfort and fuel consumption. It is thereforeperfectly tuned to the engine characteristics of the Cayman models. Furthermore, a new sports function will be available from June 2013 at the earliest: In combination with the optional Sport Chrono Package and if the SPORT PLUS button is pressed when downshifting there is an intermediate acceleration to synchronise the gear and engine speeds during the actual gear change in the transmission. For perfectly sporty, quick but nevertheless quiet gear and load changes, as well as an enhanced emotive experience. The upshift recommendation in the instrument cluster supports consumption-optimised driving.
So one might as well get a PDK. What's the point of having a manual, if the challenging, and thus rewarding, bits are done for you automagically?
Years ago, they took away the ability to get the tail out by gently closing the throttle on low Mu surfaces (ice, snow). PSM basically eliminated that.
Now they're going further, monkeying with the purity and controllability of our cars. Too far, I say. I got pitchforks, who wants to join the revolt?
