.......look at us!....look at us! ....were so rich and so cute ! ...from my backwater perspective who cares.

    Re: 500€ Valet Tip!

Says it's a rental Veyron. If she spent 19,000 a day to rent the car, what's another 500? broken heart

    Re: 500€ Valet Tip!

Why did she tip the valet? She parked the car herself. I tip a valet to park my car - not to point to a general direction where I should park and then let me park it myself.

    Re: 500€ Valet Tip!

I tip the valet so they don't mess with my cars, and if they don't drive it, even better...

    Re: 500€ Valet Tip!

I dont care about the tip, but check how many people made video of her and the car. This is insane.... What a reaction the car forces!

I don't quite understand why someone, who, I assume, isn't poor, would make such a comment.  Smiley

If you are a billionaire, renting a Bugatti is nothing. Giving 500 EUR to a valet is also not something out of the common for rich people, why not...it surely made the valet happy. Is that a bad thing? Smiley I would do the same if I could afford it.

Why so many people were taking photos and making videos? Well...this is the Monte Carlo Casino and in summer, it is crawling with tourists there. I think it is a perfect scenery for taking photos...casino, expensive cars, interesting people. Just imagine that most of these people are coming from ordinary places and probably don't earn in their whole life what a Bugatti Veyron costs.

You would be surprised how many (mostly young men) pass by my business and take photos or videos of my C63 AMG Coupe, which for me, is nothing really special.

If you cannot afford such a car, things look different for that individual person. We need to understand that.

Last time I was in Munich in my Panamera Turbo S, people took photos of the car while I was standing at a red light. So what? I wouldn't do it...because I own such a car but I can imagine that people feel attracted by wealth and money, this is very common in our society.

As long as they take only photos and videos and don't show any bad envy, I don't have any problem with that.

Why do you hate the world for that? I just don't get it. Smiley Smiley

Again...this is the Monte Carlo Casino, there is no posing, people usually park their car in front of the Casino if they are known there and/or if they drive an expensive car (not sure about the rules who can and cannot park there but many years ago, I parked my 996 Carrera in front of the Casino too). It is also not the fault of these two women that people are watching and filming them while they give the tip to the valet.

Speaking of "spreading" money: I usually give 50 or sometimes even 100 EUR to my mechanics, depending on the work they are doing on my cars. This seem to be a lot but I whenever I need something, sometimes even at unusual times, they do it for me because they know that I appreciate it. I also like to make them feel good about "serving" me and if I would have much more money, I would probably give them more to make them happy too.

Have you ever been to St. Tropez? People are standing there, watching the "rich" people on their yachts. I once met a guy with a huge yacht in Spain and we were discussing St. Tropez and why he didn't like it there. When I told him that the rich people seem to enjoy the other people watching them, he looked at me and told me: "Listen, if you want to be there with your boat and this is the place you throw your anchor, what can you do about the people starring at you? Re: 500€ Valet Tip!

Tourists go to Monaco to seen the wealth and spectacle, and rich people go there to show off; it's a symbiotic relationship. You drive around in a $2 million car and people will take pictures. I don't see the harm in it.

Now if you talk about being angry with the world because of the the guy in NYC who was pushed in front of a subway and nobody helped him, or because people stop at accident scenes and take pictures without helping the victims, then you could be on to something.

Well... I do hear your point. But...

In this world, you have basically 2 kinds of rich people. Those who buy expensive toys because they appreciate them and use them as they should, and those who just go to places where they can be seen in those expensive toys and make a show out of themselves.

The first category of rich people are usaually those who worked hard to earn their own money, or those who received a proper education from their parents. They know the value of money. They will never act like if they were Miss Paris Hilton in Monaco.

The second category of rich people are just a bunch of very limited young people (mostly in their 20's or 30's) who have tons of money but no job, no education and no goal in life but to hang around in public "show off" spots like Monaco, saint-tropez, or where ever.

I know that what I say is a bit simplist but still, there some truth in it.

Then, in this world, you have also 3 categories of non-rich people.

The first category tries everyday to learn , grow and prosper. They want to become rich and they do what is needed to achieve their goals. They work hard. These are the ones who will never go to such "show-off" spots because these spots are full of rich people from the second category stated above. They are just smarter than that.

The second category is made of non-rich people who are basically happy with what they have. It's your mechanic, your secretary, ...

The third category is made of those you see in the vid posted. These are low brain people who hang around in saint-trop just to see the stupid rich people show off. The dont look after hard work. They want to go home early and watch TV games all day long. They are so limited that they spent their small earnings to go on vacation to place as uninteresting as Monaco.

Again, il know that what I wrote above is not true for everyone. But you get my point.

Are you referring to Oligarchs? Smiley I get your point but most rich people don't show off by purpose and this doesn't mean that they really enjoy each and every toy they have. Sometimes it is just the thing they need to have or use as a person who is filthy rich.

The first category of rich people are usaually those who worked hard to earn their own money, or those who received a proper education from their parents. They know the value of money. They will never act like if they were Miss Paris Hilton in Monaco.

Define the definition of working hard: It is more and more difficult to find the right definition for this. I work 12 hours every day and sometimes on weekends but I earn more money when I "work" half an hour per day on the stock market. Smiley I also have a friend who earns 20x more than I do with just sitting at his computer at home, making stock market deals all day long. So what is hard work? Physical work, mental work? There is no good definition possible here I'm afraid.

The second category of rich people are just a bunch of very limited young people (mostly in their 20's or 30's) who have tons of money but no job, no education and no goal in life but to hang around in public "show off" spots like Monaco, saint-tropez, or where ever.

I know a bunch of this people, I went to school with them...in Switzerland. They usually all have a university degree and a job (at the family company, whatever) but it doesn't always look that way since they are most of the time enjoying life. Some parents don't care, others seem to want their kids to enjoy life and others may care but lost control. I sense a little bit of envy here but I may be wrong. I would rather pity them and their parents. Smiley

I know that what I say is a bit simplist but still, there some truth in it.

I agree. These people want to get rich for whatever reason, probably never will though because they actually enjoy a different lifestyle. Smiley

The second category is made of non-rich people who are basically happy with what they have. It's your mechanic, your secretary, ...

Are you sure they are happy? I'd rather say they are stuck.

True...and not. I usually liked St. Tropez and Monaco in the past because it had a very classy/chic flair with all those beautiful people, nice cars and yachts and so on. The only reason I don't go there anymore is because it is too crowded, the prices went through the roof and there is nothing really to see and do for kids. I have some friends in Miami, they aren't poor and I love Miami because of the casual luxury there. I know that many Americans prefer the Hamptons or Europe Smiley but this is way too much of Europe for me. Smiley

I understand your points but I think you are using way too much prejudice to justify them.

You pay to your mechanics to make them work better, its ok, no problem. But here I don't see the work for 500 euro. If person pays more for work that doesn't cost it or person don't make it for perspective - it means to me spreading money = person doesn't know the cost of money and how to earn them.

About your friend in second post. That only means he worked harder before (education, practice and etc) to make it real to sit and make more or less difficult operations now and earn good money. Working hard, to me, means - mix of education, practice, having goal and moving to it and then creating a new goal, developing as specialist.

The girls WERE at a casino, right? Who is to say they didn't win thousands of Euro inside and that's why she tipped 500?

Last time I was in Vegas when I pulled a 18k jackpot, I tipped my drink girl $200 just because she happens to come by with my drink at the moment I won.

We saw a clip of 2 girls driving to a casino, and of her tipping someone big, we do not know what happened in between, it's pointless to judge people based on a 60 second clip.

When I told him that the rich people seem to enjoy the other people watching them, he looked at me and told me: "Listen, if you want to be there with your boat and this is the place you throw your anchor, what can you do about the people starring at you? You just try the best to ignore them and do your thing."

I never realized that. What we might consider posing, this is actually them living their lives.

You pay to your mechanics to make them work better, its ok, no problem. But here I don't see the work for 500 euro. If person pays more for work that doesn't cost it or person don't make it for perspective - it means to me spreading money = person doesn't know the cost of money and how to earn them.

I kind of agree with this.  But it's her money.

Let me add that this is like welfare.  But at least, the woman did it voluntarily.  It's her money.

    i hate this world.

Have to agree with amazon. Too much posing...Thats very unattractive. Anyway, no matter how many money person has, the rich person that work day and night to earn these money would never spread own money this way...Just IMHOSmiley

People on street are all loosers...I can undeerstand kids but their perents - no...

Why are the people on the street losers? I don't get it. They just take photos and videos of a nice "environment", I took photos there too with my kids and wife and I can actually afford this stuff in a way or another.

I am sorry but I don't get it why people would call the people in the video posers and the people looking at them losers.

Very well said. I love to give tips when I can afford it. It is my way making other working people happy.

Well... I do hear your point. But...

In this world, you have basically 2 kinds of rich people. Those who buy expensive toys because they appreciate them and use them as they should, and those who just go to places where they can be seen in those expensive toys and make a show out of themselves.

Are you referring to Oligarchs? Smiley I get your point but most rich people don't show off by purpose and this doesn't mean that they really enjoy each and every toy they have. Sometimes it is just the thing they need to have or use as a person who is filthy rich.

Ok, but if you're rich and smart, you don't go to these kind of places in the summer time. You know that those places are going to be filled with idiots and cameras.

Plus, People who own a house or an appartment in Monaco or St-Torpez just leave in the summer. They just leave the damn city because of the circus you see in the video posted above.

Usually, you need money to trade. If a friend of yours can earn 20x more than what you earn working (and you're not poor), that probably means that the guy is full of cash. And smart enough to trade without loosing his pants. So, your friend belongs in this category (there's nothing bad about that, don't worry Smiley).

Smiley

Haha!  No envy there! I find them quite pathetic. Kids should not have access to their parents' money to buy a porsche or veyron. Of course, parents can help their kids (buy house, go to school, etc.). But if you buy a 100k car to a kid who hasn't done anything in his life, you're just going to make a looser out of him. He will belon in  this second category for sure.

They are just smarter than that

I agree. These people want to get rich for whatever reason, probably never will though because they actually enjoy a different lifestyle. Smiley

Well, if everybodu succeeded in life, wher would we be? Of course some, despite their efforts, will fail to become rich. That's life. Nature is made this way. It's unfair but that's how it is.

The second category is made of non-rich people who are basically happy with what they have. It's your mechanic, your secretary, ...

Are you sure they are happy? I'd rather say they are stuck.

I really do think that some are happy. They are happy because the don't look after what we look for. They have a wife, a family, a house and a VW of some sort in their garage. And that's enought for them. Happinesse is not just found in a bank account.

As said before, people who own a house or an apprtement just leave in the summer.
