This photo actually proves that the design has been rushed and that it actually is based on the current Panamera.
The sideline doesn't really fit the rear from this angle...

I don't know the connection between the facelift and the Sport Tourismo, but I am not a fan of the latter. I spent considerable time looking over the car closely at a dealership in L.A. last week, and really dislike it, especially the far too busy rear design. The car seems to be mostly a general test design, more for seeking reaction to a station wagon concept overall, and not for specific design details.
i will say that the car, next to a Panamera in the showroom, looked far sleeker and lower than the production Panamera.

Not a problem at all. You can do this. The place is for sale. It is located at the interstate 5 between Adobe and Photoshop...

Rules, I thought it was the liquid blue metallic as well, but I was just at a private showing of the Sport Turismo in LA, and ask the Porsche chief representative there about the color. He assured me the color was a regular metallic color (he didn't know which actual one), and definitely not the expensive liquid metallic color. The color reminds me a bit of Polar Silver, a color from several years back...
Wonderbar:

You'd think a chief representative at a private showing for such a car would at least know the color of the car he's showing high interest costumers.

Ooh, it really is, isn't it? The LED headlights are fantastic! One too many cut lines on the side for my liking, but what a stance!

I don’t know, but I can tell you what I would do if I were Porsche CEO.
1st - Immediately ask the board to cancel the McCann (which I find repugnant in design (so far) - sorry, but that is just my opinion).
2nd - Immediately ask them to approve this car.

The McCann is essential since the VW accountants have decided to make Porsche a 200.000 units p.a. manufacturer. They need a more affordable model on the verge of mainstream in order to reach these numbers.
The Sport Turismo looks great in the video. Fantastic proportions and a superb stance. But it must offer good accommodation and luggage space too, if it is to be a sales success.

I can see the business necessity, but do they have to make it so ugly and uninspiring?

I expect something better looking when the camouflage is off. Although, those side -protection strips on the doors don't show much promise.
VW have bought Ital Design, the role of which, among other things, is to advise and contribute to the design within the overall Group. I haven't seen any Giugiaro touches in Porsche design yet.

Not bad, but it is the expected smaller Cayenne.
I'd like to see more imagination in the final design. Something fresh and bold is missing from the renderings we've seen so far. The Macan is like a clean sheet of paper. It is no 911 that can only change so much.
