Too much. That front end is overdone. And the seats too.
Whatever happened to elegance? To knowing when to stop?
Where did these new designers grow up? What culture shaped them?
+1 to that. It's just a bit over the top. The great part of the RS models was that they used to be 'sleepers.' This is no sleeper.

New RS6 Avant is IMHO an awsome car. If the price is not too high I am pretty sure that I will buy it.
Regarding looks-for me it is not overdone, compare it to M5.
Pricewise it will be more or less according to my source on M5 Touring level.
BTW, RS models a sleepers I do not think so. Original RS4 was very far from being a sleeper.

+1 - These designers are the need for speed Generation!
The design is indeed overdune - compare with the M5 or E63 where only the car fanatic can sense the difference.

Elegance and sportiness don't mix well.
Then, apparently Audi RS customers asked for a more "progressive" design, they want to differentiate themselves from the huge Audi crowd. Almost every fifth or fourth car I meet on the street over here in Bavaria seems to be an Audi A4/A6, so I kind of get this point.
We may see the same development regarding the M GmbH cars in the future...the blue painted brake calipers are just a start. Same goes to AMG.
People want to show off again...apparently.
Oh...I actually like the new RS6.

German price for new RS6 Avant is 107900€ with Mwst. If you add some options like Dynamic Plus package(305km/h limiter etc), DRC, 21" wheels, Sport Diff and some other goodies you can end in 126000€ range. Ceramics are further 8000€ more...
IMHO price seems OK.
and then add the 15-20% discount they will give you if you buy one
I've been driving the new RS4 and i liked the shape, the handling but not the engine. The new RS6 look stunning, above the rear wheel it's seem to be again weider, like on an old RS6 and i like that.
No have to see what will be the engine

What's the problem with the RS4 engine if I may ask?
(ps: I never drove one, just asking because I do like the RS4).

I think you could do without 21' wheels if ceramics fit 'small' ones

it's not really a problem. it's just that i'm not fan of atmospherique engine and that if you want to have the Engine giving his max, you have to go high in the ( don't know the world of english)

This certainly wasn't designed for the German market... but then again I don't think I ever saw one in Germany.. Over here these cars are much more common. I guess Audi is going after the US and China markets big time with this one. The engine is still very sweet.

It seems to me that most people did not read press article in netcarshow link about new RS6 Avant.
Engine is 4.0L biturbo V8 with 560ps/700Nm.
Gearbox is 8 speed automatic.
0-100km/h is 3,9s and top speed is 305km/h(with Dynamic Package Plus).
Standard brakes are wave design 390mm fronts(with 8 poston calipers) and 360mm rears.
Optional Ceramics are 420mm fronts(with 6 piston calipers) and 360mm rears.
Standard suspension is Sport airsuspension and optional is DRC(if you choose DRC wich is based on active dampers you skip airsuspension).
There are two Dynamic Package options: Dynamic Package(280km/h) and Dynamic Package Plus(305km/h).
Active sport rear diff is optional.

Oh common, you'd have the RS2 any day over this
I'm afraid this time the newer car prevails! I have two friends with RS2's, I've experienced that car at length and I must admit it's really not my type of car! Marshmellows instead of dampers and an incredibly laggy engine. Fun on the autobahn but that's about it.
The new Cayman is...elegant?
I agree on the DB9 but this is also the reason I would never buy an Aston Martin, despite the fact that I was considering once a Vantage V12 for a short while.
I hate elegant but this shouldn't come as a surprise from somebody who doesn't have a single suit or tie for that matter in his closet. This actually became my "trademark"...wearing jeans and a shirt over my pants for every occasion. Kind of adapted the Miami casual style...

I think you meant to say "German tourist-style"?
SciFrog:
Jeans is not really part of the classy Miami casual style...
Well...it depends on what you consider "classy". I have friends in the US who prefer a more classic casual approach but they are 50 and over.
Here is what I mean with Miami style casual, the second guy from the left just hasn't find his Miami way yet and I wouldn't actually open up my shirt that much (this photo is actually from Miami):

Germans usually tuck in their shirts and they wear sandals.
You are ringing the wrong bell here...I'm a German by choice, not by birth.
