TEE:
eventually the Caymen will morph into the new 911...a bit like the Polo becoming a Golf or the BMW 1er into the 3er...each better than the orginal
Agreed, the 981 Cayman S will probably have the same power as the 997/1 Carrera (non S), and the 991 Carrera's engine is mounted further forward than the 997....

IMO the new Cayman S with 325 HP on the superb new Boxster platfrom will be a very exciting sportscar and super fast point to point. The Carrera 991S was not faster than the old Cayman R in the Autocar comparison on the track.
Many owners have the attitude of " my HP is larger than yours" and buy the bigger engined cars but what % of those are competent enough or are given the opportunity frequently enough to use the extra power?

In L.A, now and will attend Porsche press conference in a few hours. Will try to post pics and impressions later today.
U.S.debut of 991 Carrera 4 models today as well, and rumor is that Panamera sportback is here ( I have my doubts). Will keep folks posted...
Another picture from me:
Actually there is no surprise about the look of the new Cayman, but I like it very much.

Very nice. Simple Porsche styling that will prove timeless and tense dynamic surfaces.
Ideally however, Porsche should have differentiated the rear lights/spoiler theme from the Boxster's.
IMO, this tail lights/rear spoiler theme fits/looks better on Cayman than Boxster, thanks to the steel roof lines.

I tend to agree. It looks more homogeneous on the coupe.
My point was that they should think of something different in either case.

It looks a bit too "cute" for my liking. Strangely I think the Boxster is the cooler looking car...
Agreed!
+1!
I'm sure that there will be an aggressive Sport design, Aerokit or whatever option, for some 4.000 EUR
