    C4 test drive and final C4S order

    Hi all!

     

    6 months of configuration work are over .... Smiley ... made my final order of a C4S yesterday after the presentation last Saturday, a weekend with a C2S and a test drive with a C4 yesterday morning. I still got a December allocation quota and pick-up in Zuffenhausen is at 15th of February.

     

    The biggest surprise for me  - as a hardcore manual transmission guy  -  was the PDK .... wow ... with the left hand at the steering wheel and with the right hand on the PDK stick ... it still feels like manual but what a speed - great ... but added another 4k to my bill ..... 

    ... another 1k must be added for the car seat cooling system .... the second biggest surprise ... never be glued to the dark leather seat again ... where is the summer?

    The biggest question just before giving my signature was SPASM ... adding or not ... I never had the possibility to test drive it ... but with all the positive comments from here in mind ... I added it as well ... I hope my backbone will not become angry with the time.

     

    The C4 on Monday was brand new - had only 14 km on the odometer - so my speed was quite slowly but I could get a feel of the awd system .. or should I say I can´t ? The streets were dry and so there was no difference in car feeling because front wheels were not involved so much. Still great car feeling ... not boring as some says about the C4 system.

    The car itself looks wonderful - with the red stripe it seems the car has a lower stand .... it looks much more beautiful than on any pic seen yet - the night design is like seeing in the future .... very impressive.

    Here is my build .... and after that you´ll find some pics of the presentation car which looks really close to mine ( except SPASM is missing ) plus some pics of the black C4 demonstrator:

     

    To make my build short : C4S in agate grey with Platinum Carrera S wheels and black leather with nearly everything except PDCC ( too sterile feeling ), PCCB ( too expansive ), PAS ( radar system needless ) and Burmester ( Bose only ).

    In the meantime I heard on other places that the anti-roll bars on the C4 models - and ecspecially the C4S - became thicker - a stiffer ride. Can you confirm this?

     

    Because in this case I would cancel my SPASM ... I took it mainly for optical reasons .... but my C4S will become my daily car .... so there should be some minimum comfort as well.

     

    Any thoughts Smiley

    Don't cancel Sports PASM! The 991 suspension is far more supple than the 997- no harshness at all, just the benefit of a slightly lower center of gravity and LOTS of the "old style" 911 feel all the time and then even better in Sport + when the dynamic engine mounts make it work like a cup car. (well almost).

    Thank you .... I'll get SPASM ... my car will be build on 10th - 15th of January ... 

    ... and I'm happy as well not to ordered the PDCC ... here is a comment from Motor Trend magazine 01/2013 :

     

     "...the test team pointed fingers at the hydraulic active anti-roll bar system (PDCC) for generating excessive understeer even under mild lift-throttle conditions."

    This is I think the third time I hear about PDCC understeer... I didn't spec the damn thing too but for different reasons: to me it adds unnecessary complexity and weight to a 911. On a heavy car is a must though.

    PDDC is good for 1s better time on Klein Kurs Hockenheim. On the Ring difference is even bigger. If I decide to go for 991CrS it wold be equiped with SPASM/PDCC.

    Autocar overall, didn't like the PDCC system in spite of some track benefit.
