Goodbye 981S, hello ...
Nice! Great spec!
Curious as to why you change so quickly? I mean, a GT3 is a GT3... but your brand new Boxster is a very nice car too!

Truth be told, I should never have bought a 981S ..
The 981S is a really fantastic car in almost all respects. Compared to the 987.1 I had, the 981S is signicantly improved in all (in some, dramatically improved) areas. It's so easy to drive, it does everything so well and it also looks pretty good too. It asks virtually nothing of you.
I have had a GT3 itch for about 16 months, ever since I drove one in June 11. I bought a 981S because I thought it would be enough of a Porsche for me, that my GT3 itch would subside and go away. Much of this thinking was to do with being "sensible" and "responsible", financially speaking.
Deep down, I didn't fool myself. It's no good going to the same place for a holiday and staying in a much better hotel, when what you really want is to go somewhere else for a holiday. I have been too many times to the same place, and convinced myself that what I wanted was merely a better hotel. It wasn't.
In future, I will listen more to my heart than my head when cars are concerned. It's an addiction which is deeply entrenched in the psyche, and which I will listen to very carefully in future.
In essence, I want the rear engined experience, and of course the incredible GT3 engine. Once savoured, forever addicted.
I look forward to driving challenges and experiences as I discover the GT3 ..
I really can't wait.
Well said! I fully understand your "addiction". I have had my looks at the GT3 too since I test drove it. The itch got even worse after I had a GT3 RS for a day and I was close at signing the dotted line. I know I will give in one day... a simple matter of time
Congrats again, I am sure you will love it!

John H:
There's a lot of itching going on in R/T these days...
Scratching them is also becoming commonplace... Make sure that a good scratch is the best solution ....
I was thinking the same thing John!

OPC is painting the center console.
Congratulations, magnificent car!
Please can you advise how much your OPC is quoting to pant the centre console as I'm seriously contemplating having mine done

....I' ve got the itch too
I can't afford to have the itch - the last one I had and it still hasn't gone away is for a low mileage Ferrari California or 599 GTB. There's a California at my local Ferrari dealer's, right spec, right colour.....wrong price!

Prices for the 599 have dropped so much here . A friend was offered CHF 100 k ( about 75 K £ ) for his by the garage .

Congrats to the best addiction there is ! Trust me in saying you will be grinning a lot in the very near future. Everytime I enter mine it feels so special and it's so rewarding with it's shifting, sound and go-kart handling ! I am glad you have front axle lift too - u will need it as the front lip is very low ! Enjoy and let us know yr initial impressions !
dreamcar: no idea how much painting center console costs, included as part of the deal
BjoernB: front axle lift is essential as I live in central London with steep ramp into underground garage
make sure you scratch the most persistent and most intense itch, and not something masquerading as that
Congratulations. Wow ...a move from a Boxster S to a GT3 is epic, I really hope you can (and will) enjoy the GT3.
I understand your itching very well, I almost gave in to a similar itching and almost bought a GT3 RS 4.0. Now I am glad I didn't because it would have been a garage queen like all the other 911 in the past but I truly hope that you can enjoy your car, it is simply an amazing Porsche.

in the UK, the 4.0 has not depreciated, and some have appreciated.
I know, same in Germany and other regions too but it was a lot of money and I wouldn't have been able to go for the Panamera Turbo S. No more garage queens for me...unless I win the lottery and/or the stock markets make a 50% jump up.

On the downside you are losing a very enjoyable daily driver like the 981S.
that's what the CLS55 is for .. plus I walk to work
That´s a great combination. The two cars, that is... Wishing you lots of joyful miles in it. Guess a visit to the Nordschleife is due next year?
