    Latest rumor: Optional (standard on Turbo) LED frontlights, rear lights will be similar to new 991 (light technology, not shape or size!). The Panamera body (shape) stays the same but new front and rear bumpers and maybe slightly changed front fenders will have a deep optical impact, making thencar look less massive. 

    So far I had a close-up view on two camouflaged cars but I didn't see the final thing yet.

    All models get the facelift at the same time with not all of the current models being available immediately or at all afterwards. Meaning: Right now, it seems that production will be completely switched to the facelift.

    There will be also at least one new model which isn't available yet. This is all I know, sorry.

    I'm with RC on this - once the factory retools for the facelifted models, the entire model line is prepped for that construction. I'm guessing the facelift is close now that 2012 is drawing to an end and the 2013 models are already out and about.

    Also, Porsche redesigned all their vehicle brochures/catalogues from the traditional tall book style to the rectangular, elongated design we've seen in the hardcover collateral for the 911 and Boxster [the 981 Cayman is still unreleased, so the old Cayman catalogue is still online]. They just updated the Cayenne catalogue in that style but the old Panamera one has been pulled from all sites and is awaiting a new one; my guess is the new catalogue will be released when the facelift is shown. Maybe Geneva in March or Shanghai in April?

    As for the new model: my money's on a Panamera S Diesel.

    This would confirm earlier rumors of Porsche ditching the NA V8 in the S models in favor of the blown sixes; perhaps a preview of the rumored turbo V6 slated for the Macan Turbo?

    As for the release, I think Porsche should debut the 971 in Q1/Q2 2013 since the latter half of 2013 [fall] is already booked for the 991 Turbo and the Macan. I don't see why they should cram so many new models at one auto show rather than spread some of them out over the course of the year and keep the press on them all year long. Makes sense to me, at least.

    Engines stay the same, only a slight power bump. New additional engine may be the new V8 Diesel.

    The supercharged V6 is the current hybrid engine. Smiley

    As far as I heard, the Macan won't be available at dealers before 2014.

    Thanks Christian....please do let everyone know when you hear more about the facelift (since you are closest to the source & most informed about developments from within Porsche).....personally I am sooo excited to see first pics, the pana is such a unique car visually and I think maybe even small cosmetic tweaks could have a dramatic visual impact. We certainly are living in unique times (imagine 25-30 years ago when there was scant excitement about new model launches & facelifts etc, + no internet through which this excitement could be shared with like minded enthusiasts)

    I made up my mind to order the Pana TT right when it comes out. Will leave the Cayenne to the wife, she loves it so much that it makes it uncomfortable for me to drive it lol

    I am a consistent fan of Porsche new model styling, but i really dislike the rear of this rendering, and the real life rear styling of the Sportback Panamera.  i spent a good deal of time around this car in L.A. and liked it less and less every minute. Looks "flabby" and "rubbery" to me.

    According to my information, the facelift won't get an all new design. I have to confess however that sometimes, my Panamera looks quite "massive" from certain angles and the word "massive" is not exactly a word that I would want someone to describe a Porsche with. A visual downsizing, similar to the first and second Cayenne generation difference, is urgently necessary if the Panamera wants to survive, especially on European markets (not that they are really important anymore... ).

    To me the only weak point of the Panamera design is the tapering of the rear roofline down to the rear glass and hatch.  The angle downward is just a bit too severe, giving the car its bulbous look.  This could be adjusted slightly in a new design, either by slightly flattening the angle (as was done in the new Cayman), or increasing the rear glass area, or both.  I don't expect it with the facelift, but maybe in the next generation.

    The more gradual flattening of the new Cayman's roofline (granted that the longer wheelbase makes this easier) is a major design improvement, although very subtle...

     RC, my dealor swears that at least in NA, we are seeing V6 Gen 2 Panamera's only. they will also be including a GTS variant right out of the gates

    I love how the 991 looks, so it surely is a matter of personal taste. The front lights may be a tick too big but hey, they need something to work with for a facelift, right?!
