It's impressive that they kept this secret: I thought we had connected RTers...?  There wasn't even a whisper and it's a 2 ton station wagon!!

Hey, RC and me wrote about Panamera Sportback almost 10 days ago in thread about potential Porsche supriese for Paris Show.

You did?  First accurate mention i can see was by BiTurbo which was an official list of show cars.

FWIW, I prefer RC's black beauty over the soft looks of the turismo....much meaner & unique....just my 2c

We actually talked about this much earlier, months ago. You need to learn to read between the lines because a word too much from one of us here on RT and the source(s) are compromised. Don't take this lightly, people have jobs to loose here. Smiley We try to kind of lure you guys into some sort of imagination, where you can actually find out for yourself how a future model will look alike and/or if a certain model will be available.

Remember the 991 photo leak (yes, RT was the first site on the internet to show these photos and other stole them from us)? The Porsche law department was onto us a couple of minutes later. Like I said before, don't take this lightly, we cannot post everything because it would really create serious problems for the source(s).

    It uses rear view cameras

I think it was said it uses rear view cameras. But I doubt this will make it into serial production, just have a look at the 918 Spyder... Smiley

If you look at the interior pictures the camera images must be left and right of the rev counter.

Neither do I; they're hidden in the air vents. And yes, they are very stupid, and unnecessary.

I suspect that the camera(s) for the rear-view monitor might be in that wing, so don't count on it being able to delete it.  Smiley

Can't be good for luggage space...

Re: Panamera Sport Turismo Concept Car (Paris 2012)

Nice comparison photo, thanks.  I like the concept car's shorter front overhang, deeper/longer side creases, wider rear side windows, deeper wheel wells.  I still don't like the rear treatment--looks like an American "station wagon".   But a design somewhere between the concept's rear and the current Panny rear would suit fine.

Re: Panamera Sport Turismo Concept Car (Paris 2012)

If you remembered, the 991 was supposed to debut with cameras replacing the wing mirrors but things just weren't ready for production. As this shooting break variant will be a bodystyle of Panamera Mk2 due in 2016 at the earliest (assuming the Mk2 saloon in 2015), I'm confident the car will come with no wing mirrors.

i really hope not! cars look stupid w/out wing mirrors! like crippled...

Re: Panamera Sport Turismo Concept Car (Paris 2012)

In the comparo pic, the original panamera looks better to me... RC, I think you made the best deal kiss

Regarding the facelift, If they had only smashed the hump at the back down a bit further, it would have looked like the original concept, which would have been awesome

Not a big fan of the kombi

For me, it is the transformation of the ugly ducking. And I like the rear wing - if you take it away, I think the car would look less sleek.

Re: Panamera Sport Turismo Concept Car (Paris 2012)

The Sport Turismo is a great concept and a handsome design. I think Giugiaro must have been involved in the refinements of the transformation.

To my mind it is the successor to the Audi RS2, which to me it was like a true Porsche in its time.

Re: Panamera Sport Turismo Concept Car (Paris 2012)

Side question, it's just a rolling chassis right? I see no engine hood gaps anywhere. Did the car drive on stage?

Re: Panamera Sport Turismo Concept Car (Paris 2012)

In the video above and in this one

    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KXmC6uNtmJ8

you can see it rolling on stage, presumably under its own power.
