i do think the f12 berlinetta will give a hard live to the aventador
That is an excellent result for such a heavy car. Nearly as quick as the GT2RS on both NBR and HHR
I would be very interested in how durable the brakes are given the rather high weight. Are there any Aventador owners on Rennteam already
RC:
If I could afford it, financially and socially, I would buy the Aventador immediately.
Very fascinating car...
I will never be able to afford a car in that price bracket, but even in the theoretical situation I could afford one I wouldn't get it due to its substandard, old tech gearbox. They cannot bring out this marvelous exotic and fit an automated manual technology from 10-15 years ago. A big minus IMO. Apparently, Herr Piech's perfectionism hasn't fully influenced Lamborghini yet.

The Aventador is not a car I would want to own - but then: it is maybe the greatest car to experience while not owning it, if you know what I mean. This car is like a beautiful sculpture. Few cars (if any?) look more amazing. The technology includes everything which is nice to have: huge 12 cylinder engine, tons of power, automated and ultra-fast gear-box. intoxicating sound, everything. It is also true that owning a car like this makes clear to the owner the disadvantages of owning it: it's little flaws, the car requires attention and care, the car attracts too many looks, too heavy for the track, high costs of ownership etc. The older I get the more I know: some cars are great to enjoy on the street - others are great to enjoy behind the wheel

Very well said, exactly my opinion.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.
Markus, I really think you are getting old, I don't understand a word you are saying.
The Aventador is amazing, just not the right car for my pocket and my social life.
As a daily driver, this car would probably suck but as a toy, for this kind of money it can't be anything else, it would be perfect.
If I had all the money in the world and wouldn't care about what my neighbors say , I would certainly have the Aventador in my garage and I would drive it more often than I actually could justify.
Right now, I would prefer the Aventador over any car on this planet, given the same or less purchase cost.
It just has it all...looks, performance, safety, fun and keeping the drive on the edge. Not as raw as a 997 GT3 RS 4.0 for example but I would love to own both.

Why don't you like the gearbox? It's as quick as a double clutch and lighter on top of that! Sounds good enough!
Other magazines have achieved better numbers. Still amazingly quick car this Aventador!

Amazing car the Aventador. But in the top category I'd like to see the latest technology too. The Graziano single clutch robotized transmission is not as smooth-shifting as a state of the art DCT, like Ferrari's for example. Lamborghini say it suits the wild and aggressive character of their car. IMO it is sour grapes. The weight penalty of a DCT wouldn't be critical and the faster shifting would compensate in acceleration times.
Soon when they'll introduce a modern transmission they will say otherwise. Similar to what Porsche will say when they will replace the "purist" manual GT3 with a modern PDK.

A lot of people love the drama of a proper robotised manual! I know I do! Shift times are on a par really and performance would be comparable. I do not think that a double clutch box is superior, just different. As for smoothness... how subtle do you want your cannon to be? lol Lambos are supposed to be wild, not smooth! I haven't driven a DCT Ferrari, but I hope they have retained the savagery of the old box of the 430 and 599. You get that wonderful kick in the back!
You may be right in the sense that this is not a car for regular use or for normal transport, and conseqeuntly the driver might feel the need for "a bit of rough" when he picks the Aventador among the other cars in his large garage.

The Gallardo (like its brother, the Audi R8) is going to lose the awesome gated manual in its next generation. The current manual is a real pleasure to shift (wonderful positive action).
