Drifting can be fun but I was referring more to the turn in you get when you brake very hard sending the weight forward and the kind of traction you get out of corners with 62% of the weight on the rear axle. I just love it. No amount of mid-engined predictability matches that in my eyes. But everyone likes different things from a car and from the driving experience.

I love it, certainly compared with the Cayman it is obviously much quicker, but also feels more mature, vastly more comfortable, as we've found out much easier to pack for a touring holiday, the difference in fuel consumption far less than I thought it would be, just as secure and more relaxed for touring. I'd never ever go back to a Cayman, even the one based on the 981 having experienced the 997. I'm still learning the car as haven't driven 2,000 miles in it yet - but the more I drive it the more I respect it's abilities. I've not yet driven it hard.
