Spyderidol:
Did you see the drawings on the last pages? It doesn't look so bad.
Yes, I have seen. It is not a problem, maybe it is more that I wanted to see. Anyway these are great regulations, even better than group C that regulated the engine to be Group A or B derived.

The new regulations look very promising!
Anybody else catch that there are hardly ANY engine restrictions? It even says, no more restrictions against capacity, turbos, amount of cylinders, or air restrictors.
It'd be cool to see Porsche with a new motorsports flat 6 block introduced!

Webber would be a natural choice as driver. He has had a long informal association with Porsche outside of F1 duties, and already has LeMans experience. He'll be coming over to the LeMans effort in peak form after having just departed F1 too so it will not be as if he has developed much rust during the downtime and layover.

Chris Harris On Cars: "Porsche 962"
The trademark Chris Harris stare gets that bit more intense, courtesy of one of Porsche's most legendary racers...
The Porsche 962 was the most prolific sports car racer of the 1980s. It dominated Group C and IMSA, and cemented Porsche's reputation as the maker of the most robust prototype racers in the world.

CH's video/articles are great. He has such a passion for cars that is equally matched by his driving skills. As a result he presents videos/articles that pistonheads want to read - week in and week out.
I think the auto industry likes him too, particularly Porsche, he is getting insane access.

Spyderidol, wanted to know if you heard some of the rumors going on that porsche has hired several F1 staff member including a Sauber race engineer. The article also said that many of the factory drivers have been spending lots of time at Mclaren driving the simulators. Could this just mean they could be gearing up for lemans or possibly being a suppplier of engines for 2014 regs? whats your thoughts or any info on the hiring of these Formula engineers.

Hi 996cal. I read the same article. I personally think that it just speculation. Porsche have started to gear up for their LMP1 challenge. It is going to be a huge project and a steep hill to climb. Toyota is using their F1 resources (Cologne) for their LMP1 project and have ex-F1 drivers. Porsche understand that the challenge is a tough one, and they need to have F1 level personnel in place if they are going to be successful in a short period of time.

Also it seems that sauber is gonna be the very close partner of VW group in future. Previously, there were rumors that red bull will be a partner, mostly because of Helmut Marko, who, by rumors, has close connections to VW and Porsche, but something has happened and RB will be Renault partner.
Of course, Porsche is preparing to Le Mans. Manufacturers start to return to Lmp1 class, new regulations are very interesting, so to be competitive, Porsche need to have the best of the best. Also, not a long time ago they have invested hundreds millions of dollars in Weissach facility. Also, in around 2016 I think we should expect VW route to F1. Wolfgang Durheimer is moving this idea, but Piech is against, he hates F1)))
p.s. all this post is combo of rumors for around 1,5 years)

Fritz Enzinger = Head of BMW Motorsport, now to head Porsche LMP1 . (Project Manager) (From Nov 2011)
Alex Hitzinger = recently 'Head of Advanced Technologies' for Red Bull F1 and Scuderia Toro Rosso.
Urs Kuratle = Chief Mechanic at Sauber F1.

Totally agree.
I am two hands up for their return to f1 as engine suppliers and maybe later as team holders, but their history is LeMans and this race must be in priority.
also I would like to see as much as possible of their model range in racing. Dreams...
