My 981 - pics
We have already seen pics of sfo´s stunning white-on-red 981 S, here are some pics of my white-on-black!
I traded in my 987 S and I can only say that Porsche has done a great job on the 981!

Hi Kelderek
your car looks great, the white is a real grower and also begining to wonder about whether I should have gone for the 20" Classic alloys. You have to stop somewhere and I just thought 20" wheels were too large on a Boxster.
Glad to hear Bose in the 981 is an improvement as i've specified that for my car.
The weather in Gothenburg looks good, it's pouring with rain here in the UK again and thats the only thing that is keeping me calm about my car being delayed so much.

beautiful .. white and black is a classic combination. be good to see some top up pics.
I don't have PSE either, and I find the 981 standard exhaust great .. it's a lovely mechanical super smooth 'sewing machine' noise. I love the first 20 secs or so after a cold start, very resonant sound while you get ready, reminding you of the pleasures to come.
I agree with your comments on the 981's BOSE .. much clearer, substantially better acoustic depth and also more distortion free than the 987 BOSE.
doesn't 7th gear get locked out if you are in SPORT?

7th gear is totally locked out in Sport Plus, both in auto and manual driving mode.
I'm not sure about Sport... Sport makes the PDK change at higher revs in auto mode, but if it selects 7th or not is something I will have to test!
Many thanks for your report and the excellent photos you've posted...
White on black is difficult to beat (or maybe I'm just biased!!)
Welcome to Rennteam - looking forward to more high quality posts from you...

Jim_in_Iowa:
The 20" wheels look great on your car. I have two general questions: 1) Does anyone have good pictures of the 19" Boxster S wheels on a car? It's hard to tell on the configurator. and 2) Can the Exclusive department be used to obtain a particular make of N-rated tire on a car? I know the just-in-time build philosophy doesn't like that, but I have a strong preference. In addition, Chris Harris has not had kind things to say about the N-rated Goodyear 19s he drove. At least in the U.S., Tire Rack shows only Goodyears as N-rated 19s. Thanks!
You can see pics of the 19" Boxster S wheels in sfo's thread, he has them on his car:

The 20" wheels come with Pirelli PZero as standard, but according to my dealer you can specify other brands from the factory. If you don't, you´ll get Pirelli on 20" and GoodYear on 19" as default.

Hi 993 Targa
I looked at partial leather and then full leather and in the end opted for the full leather but that was on a yachting blue interior, which includes the dash, doors and instrument binacle. I think its easier to get away with the partial leather with a black interior, and of course the S comes as standard with leather armrests which are optional on the 2.7

Same here, I wanted the Espresso interior in my Cayenne and this comes in full leather. If I'd gone for black I would have chosen partial leather as well. Was just wondering if the quality/feel of the plastic is the same in the Boxster as the Cayenne.

I have not seen anything but Pirellis on 20" wheels, whether on 991 or 981.
Ditto re:Goodyear on 19" wheels -- I did see Michelin winter tyres on 981 19" wheels.
I was hoping for Michelin PSS ..
Don't think any other tyres is N rated yet.
strangely enough if you look on the Porsche configurator in 3D the tyres on the 20" wheels are Michelin - I know it's only graphics but

I think the Boxster looks best in white of what I've seen so far.
Noticed that the interior is not full leather. How is the quality feel of the non-leather parts like the top of the dash?
I think it looks good enough, really. It's slightly better finish than the 987, I would say.
I think Jonathanbr's reply to you above is very good: The non-leather interior is easier to get away with on a black interior than e.g. a beige... the latter would look more "plastic".
Also note that the Boxster S has leather in door armrests and the centre storage compartment lid, that's plastic on the base Boxster...
Beautiful car, white is definitely one of the colors which suit the Boxster very well. Why didn't you go for black painted rims? Just saying... (don't worry, black painted rims are kind of a weakness of mine...or craziness ).
Congratulations and drive safely.

I did consider the platinum color wheels, but preferred the standard finish when I saw pics of 991's with those wheels... Not really a fan of black wheels on white cars, on a red car it would look great!
