    just for fun - top speed

    this was last night...  anyone know what the top speed is in the 991 carrera S ?IMG_3890.MOV

    Hi beau, just curious, why do you use km/h unit on your speedometer display? Are you more familiar with the metric?

    Dreamcar: Yes, I have watched a lot of Youtube videos on the 991 and it's interesting how they all sound the same!  No, I don't have the sports exhaust--next time!

    Buzzinfrog:  I wanted to have the option of seeing both (since I go south of the border), I already have the speedometer in mph on the left side of the tachometer, that way I can obey the km laws more easily instead of trying to constantly calculate my speed.  (I hope I am using the right terminology--correct me if i'm wrong!)

    Beau - do you have PDK or manual?  Your 0-60 times would be quicker with PDK.

    My acceleration 0-60 with PDK and launch control, on my GTS, is down to 3.6 sec...kiss

    If you watch the video you can see it is the PDK.  Certainly the factory figures, quoted, are conservative and 3.5 is easy with the right temps.

    Can't play the video - I'm not an Apple fan!!  I deleted Quicktime, iTunes etc. when I discarded my iPhone for a Galaxy S2...

    Aaron, I've been trying several circuits for maximum speed but without success.  I thought Silverstone would crack it, but the best I got was 143mph on Hangar Straight before having to brake hard into Stowe Corner!

    I've managed 170 on a deserted motorway at night, but I guess a trip to an Autobahn is the only way to really find the true maximum!!  Smiley

    And even on the German autobahn you need to go a remote unrestricted stretch.  On  my drives to the Ring ( about 400 km of German autobahn ) I never managed to go faster then about 280 km/h , as there is always traffic , or restrictions in the way Smiley
