Hmm, don't know what to say. Of course it's in the wrong colour, in fact this is not a colour at all, but even if it was painted in a shiny metallic finish, this mule has lost a lot of the sex appeal of the design study to me.
A Ferrari 458 looks better than this.

Guys, no lights are final and they simply used the molds from the concept car to slap some rough bumpers and panels on this working test mule. No details yet, no final headlights and except the final bodywork to be a lot more fine tuned and beautiful. I really like the general lines though. it looks sort of feminine to me.

Stefan, I fully agree with you.
I will go even further-this 918 mule looks almost kit-car to my eyes.

Boxster Coupe GTS:Competition: the 918 Spyder also will be compared with other supercars, such as the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 and the McLaren F1 successor.
Don't know what this journalist was drinking but the McLaren F1 is not even on the same class to this car, I mean not even close, the Aventador gets closer but still isn't either.

Carlos, why do you thinkt the F1 successor won't be a direct competitor?
Aventador is too cheap in comparison, but new Enzo and F1 successor will definitely compete with the 918.

My mistake! I just realised as I was typing a response that it said McLaren F1 and not MP4!

Chris Harris doesn't seem to be too much of a fan. This is what he twitted: 918 test mule, with some curvy carbon panels to join the gaps would look better than the proposed production styling...
He's referring to the rolling chassis we saw a few month ago. He prefers that to this version. He may have a point.

I fully understand him. I'm not very convinced by these first pics of the nearly undisguised 918 as well. One can only hope the final product will look a bit more impressive.
And if the rumours about the Enzo II are true (and I have no doubt...), the 918 Spyder won't have an easy life either.

Porsche isn't Ferrari, looking flashy is for others.
I actually like Number 05 but there will be some changes but don't expect anything radical. The base design is already there, the changes will be in the detail.
I hope they can keep up the performance numbers, especially the 0-200 and 0-300 claims.
Seriously...I am tempted but I am still far away from being able to really afford one.
Luckily, I don't think that Porsche is going to sell the whole 918 production batch immediately, so I may get a chance if I want one.
Btw: I saw a gorgeous GT2 RS today...matte black...I was very tempted but I luckily resisted. My wife would have killed me.
