No more Panamera Turbo S for the US market? (Update)

The Panamera Turbo S has disappeared from the Porsche USA Car Configurator.

Instead, the Sport Package with Powerkit is available now for the Panamera Turbo, at a bargain price of almost 28k USD. Smiley

Interesting development...

Update (as of May 2012): Turbo S has re-appeared on the US Car Configurator.

That doesn't would make any sense. The "Turbo S" badge attract more people than a Turbo with the Kit. They should sell the Turbo S with a plus 28.000$ sticker. Maybe they are just working on their website and tomorrow it's the other way round...

Well, we know very well that the "titan" turbo charger of the Panamera Turbo S is in short supply due to the encountered technical production issues but since Porsche uses the same turbo chargers for the Powerkit, I wonder...

Maybe Porsche is not using the titan turbo chargers anymore for the Powerkit? yes

On the other hand, one has to wonder why Porsche would still offer the Turbo S in Germany but not the powerkit for the Turbo? Weird indeed.

Maybe they have only enough key parts availabliity to offer just a powerkit option for the USA, wich would have fewer buyers, than a entire ready to go PTS for dealers to have on hand. So in thier own way Porsche tries to keep extra power Panamera Turbo's available to thier customers.

When the Panamera came out the pictures were not flattering. Its a hard car to photograph maybe, but now its look has grown on people I think. It has its own Porsche like "Presence". Strike me with lightening for saying this, but the Panamera may be the best Porsche to buy when you consider performance, size for the money and useability. And now that the PDK is so good and works with the Panamera dynamics so well , the car does seem to add up to a benchmark engineering moment. It may have been a few years ahead of its time.

Apparently you can't order a new Panamera Turbo S in Germany anymore, despite the availability of the car in the car configurator.

No. The new option "soft close doors" is available for the current model and it won't be available until november 2012. Smiley

I had a factory delivery date set for end of June (lucky to get one), they really don't provide any anymore because they are fully booked for this model year but it was too late for me because I wanted to take my son with me, so I'm going to take delivery on June 8th at my dealer. Maybe even earlier (June 1st) if the car arrives in time. Production is scheduled for mid May. At least I can drive my car earlier but I really wanted factory delivery for my son.

It seems that the Panamera facelift will be announced early next year, maybe in Detroit, maybe in Geneva, I have no clue yet.

There also have been some rumors in the past that the Panamera facelift may be seen for the very first time in Paris this autumn with first deliveries for end of 2012 but it is very unlikely according to the latest information because Porsche may show the first Macan "study" or even the final thing in Paris. More likely in Paris though: The Carrera 4 models.

Geneva 2013 may be the spot for the 991 Turbo.

Still...everything is speculation, nothing sure yet.

@Wonderbar: Don't worry but keep in mind that I have to run it in first.
