+1 Black wheels will disguise brake dust etc :)

PJ, I certainly like the white/red combo ... I would try to make it happen somehow if I were you :)

If an all red interior is too much, and it certainly would be for me, you could try a red/black combo as a compromise.

Just so long as the steering wheel is black...

PJ, may I suggest a colour scheme?

Carrara White (not the other white which is too white IMO)
    Carrera Red interior
    Black painted wheels
    Black hood

Of course, colour schemes are totally subjective ... your proposed scheme is great too ... it's just personal taste :)

May I take the liberty to the same? Smiley

    • Carrara White
    • Espresso interior
    • Black painted Carrera-S wheel
    • Brown hood

    Re: 981 S spec - comments welcome

Having a look at the configurator there are actually not that many bright colors to choose from cheeky Taking a que from Ian's 991 I really like racing yellow but appreciate not everyones cup of tea. The blue does little for me. I like the silver/red interior combo too, but appreciate that is not top of your list. Perhaps white is "best" option - just not with the white weels

Good luck Achim with taking a decision wink

Just back from a few hours at Silverstone along with about 25 other deposit holders on the 981.

Great to meet a few other owners to be and get to see the car in the flesh as well as enjoy a ride driven by the professionals. Also got to learn a few things talking to the Product Manager.

    Manual vs PDK

Despite two OPC's saying that they hadnt sold a manual car it seems the S has about a 60 (PDK)/40 split at the moment. Early adopters tending to like the manual a little more now. As time goes on they feel it will lean even more towards the PDK. Interestingly they feel the 2.7 will be a higher % of manual over pdk than the S. PDK on all cars

    20" Ride Quality non PASM

Had hoped to get some feedback on this, but all cars at the moment have PASM. Advised to go for PASM.
All cars there today had 20" wheels

    Colours

They only had Red, Yellow, White and Black. I know I wasnt alone in saying that the Black car lost a lot of the detail on the doors. The lighter colours really helped. The Yellow looked good, if only I was that brave. Product Manager said Agate with red roof looks stunning, but he also sang the praises of Anthracite Brown and Aqua Blue.

    Phone Prep

The Boxster has CDR31 as std which is different from the CDR30 in the current Boxster. Having an Iphone I wanted to see if the integration was better so I can live without PCM. Waiting for a definitive answer, but hoping it is after our talk and that the address book transfers automatically. Sorry not much of a petrol head topic smile

    PSE

All the cars were non PSE. After having had a Spyder and earlier in the day going out in a Spyder with PSE the std car sounded dull. Way too refined and lacking in aural pleasure smile Roof down it just didnt cut the mustard. I know this is personal choice but this is now a must have option for me, going to wait another month to have it.

Some pics from the day. It was all filmed so in a couple of weeks there will be a professionaly shot version out.

    Hi SFO

Did you decide to go with the Expresso natural leather interior? There were some pictures of an Aqua Blue with brown roof and the expresso natural in the latest issue of What car magazine

no, sticking with carrara white with red roof and carrera red leather to match the red calipers and red rear lights :)

    Re: 981 S spec - comments welcome

WOW, yellow is stunning! I wasn't expecting that! It works even better than on 991...

    Re: 981 S spec - comments welcome

I think your car will look great in white - are you waiting or going with the current carrera white?

I do think the car needs a light / bright colour to show of the lines and details - to me so much is lost on the black, dark blue and brown cars we have seen so far

    Re: 981 S spec - comments welcome

    TEE:

Achim - you are turning into a collector. All quiet and then this. Nice choice. I actually have to admit this is the first time I am interested in the Baby Porsche. It is slowly morphing into a real sports car and replacement of the 911 of old.

Two comments on spec. Not sure on the color. I know it is a personal matter but think it can handle a bit more color. But if you do get white dont get the white rims. Also not sure which rims I would prefer, but leaning towards the GT3 style ones. Easy choices...

    Enjoy in good health...

    TEE

    In complete agreement!

    +1.

Despite the 80's tuner look, I still like white with white wheels.

I would stay away from black wheels (personal dislike). On the other hand, white with the stain gray wheels might be a very nice combo.

    PJ,

how about an Exclusive option for the rim color? I do like the idea of an all-white car but think that, apart of your passengers´ faces,  a bit of additional color wouldn´t hurt...

Ferdie, with the suggested color combo the passenger at least has the choice whether his face should become white or blue - both would suit nicely from a design POV Smiley

I'm glad it's you who brings up the idea of the Carrera S wheel in Platinum finish SmileySmileySmileyActually this is my favourite combo Smiley Though I have a hard time of talking Mrs. PJ into this combo Smiley because she thinks it doesn't fit too well with the Yachting Blue interior (though she agrees that this combo would be a no-brainer with black interior...). Women....Smiley But then it will be her driving the car almost all the time, not me - unless I take the car for the occasional spin in the Eifel for an engine and exhaust cleaning exercise Smiley Using extra large sunglasses hopefully none of my GT3 buddies will realise that it's me behind the wheel of the 981S with the girlish wheel paint Smiley

@ Everyone: thanks guys for all of your great input - really appreciated Smiley Of course I will keep you updated on how the color saga continues...

    PJ,

haven´t seen the Platinum rims in real life so far. To be honest, I cannot tell you how it would look with Yachting Blue. I was actually referring to an entirely individual color for the rims as I do remember that you once posted a 987.1 Boxster from Porsche with individually painted Lobster forks in gunmetal grey. Alternatively, change the interior to Black. After all, changing the paint on the rims at a later stage would still be the easiest thing to do should she get tired of the white rims.

My personal choice would be a dark grey or black color with Platinum or Gunmetal painted rims. Just for the record.

Regarding your disguise, I can borrow you a nice wig from Karneval.

The platinum wheels look perfect ... PJ, you simply have to get these! They look amazing.

As for the interior colour, why not mix a two-tone leather interior colour scheme?

I vote for black and red leather :)

(I would not go for blue leather but colour taste is of course 100% subjective)

Mrs. PJ must have read your posting, Thomas Smiley Tonight she was burning for Racing Yellow, Black Carrera S wheels, black top and Agathe Grey leather interior - actually a combo I also could fell in love with Smiley The Mini-CGT silhouette needs color as you pointed out correctly Smiley hence Black, Silver, Grey and Brown are not on the shortlist...Red reminds too much of Alfa (we have a long history with the cuore sportive cars...Smiley)', remaining shortlisted colors: white, racing yellow, aquablue. Racingyellow = Porn Smiley, Aqua = conservative, white = middle of the road between porn and conservative  Smiley From an inside out view we are in agreement that Agathe full leather should provide a Perfect blend of sportiness and elegance.  Aquablue would be a nice match for the platinum paint wheels, racing yellow with the black wheels.  I have a feeling that Racingyellow and Aquablue will qualify for the big final Smiley

@ Ferdie: as long as the wig fits under my helmet...Smiley Grey and silver certainly also underline the design of the car very nicely, but after 6 years with a grey Boxster and 3 years with a silver GT3 it's time for a bit of color. Also, as we are becoming older : " je oller umso doller" Smiley

@ gauss: can't wait to meet up for some laps in the Green Hell...weather forecast is crap again for Sunday... such a pity as we could drive the VLN variant...

Achim perhaps you give me too much credit frown A few minutes looking at the color option can only lead to the 3 you mentioned, that said I personally would not rule out red (have to say that now though smiley) - sounds like the Mrs. PJ is leading you down the right track indecision

Maybe as well.... when I call in and see you after we've colllected our new 991 in white with yachting blue from Stuttgart it would be boring to have the two cars side by side in the same colour....   .....I wish!  Smiley

As you know if we were ordering an new Boxster we'd definitely have that combination but like you for reason of a change having had silver, then three blue P cars!

    Re: 981 S spec - comments welcome

I had a speedyellow 986.I loved the color and the car until a red Honda finished our love affair.

But choosing the right color is something only the owner should decide. And because we don’t change our cars we all should think about the right color for more than one day. That’s one of the reasons why my Boxster is all black.

I saw a yellow 991 at my Porsche dealer at the Boxster presentation yesterday. Not the yellow I like. But I would love to own a signal yellow 981.

My next Boxster will probably be red (with black wheels) or PTS. Maybe some special blue although I don’t like the red brakes  if the car is blue. Three more months to think about the right color.

But Achim many congrats, the new Boxster looks great and is probably even much better than the old 987. I already start counting the days until my new ride will arrive.

    Re: 981 S spec - comments welcome

White with blue should look fantastic - I stuck with Aqua as the Carrera white changes in July and I didn't want to wait, I had also set my heart on Aqua, glad to see you've added in the silver grey seat belts, what about the mats with the contrast edging again in the silver grey which the Exclusive departement recommended when I was at Geneva
