A kind of modernized Berlinetta Boxer of the 70s-80s. I'm not sure if it a successful design but definitely I don't like the lower part in black. which was a feature of the original.

The car receives mixed emotions, that one is for sure. One can debate whether this reference to the past is sensible or not. I personally like it as it gives the styling a certain depth, furthermore Ferrari has sufficiently used references to previous models in recent years on their production cars.
The execution is definitely not perfect but it just shows how much effort is put into today´s car design, what looks so simple and effortless has taken quite some time and debate.
The car is no improvement over the standard 458...

How do we know how much Ferrari charged for it? £3 million could be an excessive estimate.
Besides, if Eric (who is a 60s -70s-80s man really and has fond memories of classic Ferraris) likes it ,who are we to say otherwise. I'm sure that if we were all fortunate enough to be in a position to design our own 458, we would all end up with something different.

Er, no. I am sure that the designers and the aerodynamicists know better than I do. I will leave it to them.
Do you expect then that Eric's version of 458 will be in any way inferior to the standard model, in terms of performance, stability etc?

none sense haha. It's got different bumpers and a different engine lid.. I'm sure it'll be fine otherwise Ferrari would not have put it on the road. I'd be more concerned about them stating it has more power despite the same engine lol 
The fact that it is more retro and a one-off makes it very cool! I actually like it more than the 458

As I said mate, I am not an aerodynamicists, but even to my untrained eye some details look as a downgrade from the 458. The lack of the frontal fins for example and the retro panels in the back. This design resembles the '80s and the aerodynamic design of that era.

Last time I checked bumpers too met the incoming air flow. 
Other than that, no need to worry about the engine. Ferrari have stated that the 458 engine has enough headroom for future upgrades and in fact the "Scuderia" version of the Italia will have a power hike. It seems that Clapton's monstrosity is the first Ferrari to get the upgraded engine.

Mate, in the front for example the mechanics of airflow, intake and aero aren't changed by that much... It's just looks.
If it has indeed a more powerful engine, don't you think the aero is at least equal to that of the 458 
Despite appearing to be inferior in 80s style judged by you...
What about the bumper mods of RUF on 911s? etc...
This car is not inferior to the 458 and i suspect it'll have close to equal aero performance. It'd really love to see more pictures of it, also perhaps if possible in comparison to the 458. It's very cool, I repeat myself

I don't think Ferrari would care a lot if the design means a little performance loss, not that it actually has any. But even if it does it's not a car that gets advertised, it doesn't reflect Ferrari engineering or their credibility. The stats on this car matter to only one person, the owner who commissioned it. For anybody else who ever sees it the only part that matters is how it looks.
