    Singer

    As some of you know, I have ordered a Singer. It will be chassis No4.

    For those who don't know, a Singer is basically a hand made 911 with old 60s look and modern tech like 964 chassis with ABS, power steering, 993 engine tuned by Cosworth and carbon fiber body panels by Aria.

    Final product looks absolutely amazing, drives fantastic and is so much fun.

    My car will be highly specced with 390 hp for about 1200 kgs. 

    The level of personalisation is endless. Chassis 4 will be Singer racing white with black and red interior. The specifically designed bucket seats are a work of art, modern bucket with retro style.

    I met Rob Dickinson in LA this Xmas, the man is simply awesome, a wizzard! And the quality of his work is truly outstanding.

    Here are a few pics of the work in progress, the car will be ready this summer.

    That carbon fiber body on that retro style looks delicious ! It's a work of art indeed. 

    Futch please keep us updated, watching the development of such a unique and special project will be so great. 

    With the inside info and the production process of this Singer and the info you give us about the 918 you are really opening the door to other RT members to a world we couldn't access on our own. and for sharing such special projects with us I personally thank you immensely as I'm sure many other here do.

    Futch, I agree with Enmanuel wholeheartedly! This is the type of supercar that -realistically- I will probably never be able to afford. However, I love these kind of cars, and I find it fantastic that you share this experience with us, thank you so much!

    Regarding the carbon  fibre body: when I read about the singer, and the "carbon fibre body panels", I thought they would have CF doors or fenders, which is remarable enough... turns out the entire outer body is CFRP .

    Do you know whether the structure is entirely carbon fibre, or is it a metal cage with carbon panels?

    Very exclusive and special car for Porschephiles.

    But if someone can afford only one $300K car in his life, would this person go for the Singer or for something more contemporary? It's a car for the lucky multiple car owners/collectors really.

    Reginos you are right, it's definitely not a second car nor a third car, but for a Porsche collection, even though it's not an original car, it makes sense, the concept is fabulous.

    For the construction yes, the chassis is steel, a 964 chassis, all the body panels are indeed carbon fibre for ligthness, the quality of the CF is insane.

    WOW - never heard about. The chassis looks so stunning. I always been a fan of the good old shape with the great modern technology and handling! 

    Keep us tuned - would love to see the progress!

    Looking at the pictures above, it is almost sad to have them painted. Great car after all and as the others, very glad you share the experience with us.

    It would definitely be my second car, as my 911 GTS is already my first (ignoring the wife's Cayenne kid-carrier) - if I could afford it.  But import duties here in SA would make it even more unaffordable still...  (Can you spec a RHD?)

    I agree, silver suits the car and is a classic Porsche colour. But white is superb too.

    Does anyone know if it's a colour from Porsche's own palette past or present?

    I have those same Ohlins (separate Piggy-Back cannisters, double adjustable) on my EVO IX - they're great!

     No it's not but the other pic yes. My car will be with red interior. Chassis number 4 I think, but not even sure. Rob Dickinson has been excellent at sending loads of pics and keeping me updates. The car will be vintage white with red interior, adj Ohlins suspensions but also some comfort features, Aircon, sunroof and with the Cosworth tuned 993 engine which should deliver approx 380 hp. The car is a bit heavy, 1200 kgs but it should be a peach!

    I can't wait. This is the dream 911, the ultimate, la creme de la creme. Exterior is unique to Singer desing but resembles most a 2.5 ST (to me, the prettiest of all 911 with maybe the 993 S). 964 Chassis with ABS with 993 running gear and carbonfiber body.

    The detailing is insane, totally insane. I have tons of pics from Rob and will post them.

    Sounds absolutely fantastic. Any insight where that weight is coming from, seems quite a lot given the carbonfibre body? 964 and 993 on which it's apparently based are no featherweights ofcourse, that might clarify it.

    Did the car also have an integrated roll-cage?

    It looks great Futch!  Can't wait to see your photos. The Singer embodies that precision engineering passion that attracts all us gearheads to Porsche, but with even more of it than Porsche.

    This is beyond insane. The level of crafstmanship, evething is bespoke, a true work of art! Car should be completed within a month, then shipping to London should only take a few days. Hopefully a you will have my impressions sometime in October.

    I know Richard Meaden is doing an article on it which should be published in the magazine EVO.

     Yes, very well intergrated rollcage covered in leather. Looks very beautiful.
