    H&R or TechArt Springs ?

I am seriously aiming to lower my P. I have checked many of you guys lowering urs and in my opinion the difference is remarkable! Would you please advice me what springs to get; the H&R springs lowering the car by 1.2 cm or the TechArt springs lowering it by 2.5 cm (I guess that one would be stiffer. tell me if I'm wrong) or any other brand. Can you also please give me some websites where I can order them? Many Thanks!!

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

    h&r or eibach

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

eibach, they are not as stiff

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

Here's 'before/after' pic of mine, C2 no PASM, now with Eibachs C4 18x11 rears, and 5mm spacers up front)

(apologies for the incosistent pic sizes )

I love the look. The ride did stiffen up a bit but not to the point of annoying. My subjective opinion of course, but on a scale of 1-5, original stock ride being 1 and 5 track-only stiff, I'd rate the Eibachs at 2.2. I only really notice the extra stiffness on rough sections of road.

The only thing that I find having to deal with since it was lowered is the rubber lips in front of the front wheel wells rub coming out of driveways and speed bumps. I plan to trim them up an inch which should take care of the issue.

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

By how much the eibach springs lowered the car? is it more or less than the H&R ones?

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

George i dont know if that is a typo or you made a mistake.
H&R lowers 1.2 inches, techart 25mm on the reg 997.
I have techart on my 997s pasm, lowered 15mm not really noticeable but it makes a difference. I have excellent clearance.
    eibach makes techart
    cargraphic is made by H&R
H&R makes alot of stuff for porsche oem like the spacers and gt springs.
Personally I would go with the less agressive drop for clearnce and better match to stock shocks.
Also since you have a non pasm car why dont you look into coilovers if you can afford it.
As I understand the springs alone work ok on the pasm 997 better than the 996 where most had to change the shocks to match.
Still, I havent heard of anyone having issues with springs, maybe its too early.

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

I have H&R springs and no probelms with them. The price ranges from 325-450..shop around on the web

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

As I understand, installing the H&R will only lower it by a further 20mm for a PASM car.
    Two questions:
Do we have to re-align the wheels after installing the lowering springs?
Do we align it to the -20mm Sport suspension spec settings?

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

Thx for your reply! I have mesured the height between the plastic (in the bumper) and the ground , it's around 6 cm. If I install the H&R spring, that would lower the car by 1.2 inches +/- 3 cm; that would left only 3 cm for the plastic to hit the ground. Can you give me the excat cm after installing the H&R springs as showed in your car? Second, is the rid much stiffer or it is okay?
    Many Thanks! [image][/image]

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

With the H&R springs, the plastic flap in front of the front wheel is very low. I have not actually measured it but it scraped on most speed bumps and large dips in the road. You just learn to be a little more careful. I have never scraped any other part of the car. The ride is a lot stiffer but it is not harsh. To me, it feels less stiff than a 997 with PASM on.

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

How many labor hours did the shops charge you to install HR springs? My dealer charges an absurd $165 an hour so this is of obvious concern to me

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

Wow, I'm glad I moved out of NYC when I did. My dealer here charges somewhere n the range of $100 to $125 per hour for labor. Anyway, I had my springs installed by a shop (Motomodz) that was very reasonable so you should ask these forums for a reference on a good shop in your area.

Do you have pictures of your car with the springs in. I have a 997S w/ areokit on order and want to lower a little but not to far because plan on running 20s

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

hi Phin and welcome to the board,
can i see more pics of your beauty??? love the rims!! so cleannn.....

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

    here you go meaker

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

    another view,
I think the techarts or even cargraphic will be perfect with the aerokit if you must drop it.
    H&R/Eibach will lower to much

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

thanks a bunch. I was think the same thing about the other spring going to far. I don't want it to look like I lowered the car but, more like it came with a aggressive stance from the Factory..Oh I really like that wing. If I wasn't getting the areokit, that the one I would have..

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

If you don't mind me asking what does a install like this run (labor, parts, alignment)

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

meaker, I have had incredible luck with porsche parts on ebay, I got the techart springs for $250, they usually run $500-600, I also am lucky to have one of the best alignment/suspension guys in LA, mine cost $350 for install/align/corner balance.
I think most shops would charge you 5-600,
so I think the most you should be paying if you cant find any special deals is $1000-1200 for parts/labor

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

    Thanks raffi

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

Thanks for the welcome..here is another one

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

    MHAKKINEN

up front you got 5mm spacers, on the rear wheels? spacers?

Re: H&R or TechArt Springs ?

Yes, 5mm spacers on the fronts only; the rears are 18x11's off the C4, so no spacers needed!

I had an opportunity to compare the 18/11's next to my stock 18x10's this weekend. The footprint is so much bigger than that extra inch advertises on paper. It's really impressive looking from the rear too!
