CloseThe A class has never been a topic of conversation because it was really ugly and cheap looking, not just amongst the Mercedes line-up but even compared to other, cheaper brands. But I must admit that the new A class looks rather great, specially that sporty version. I wouldn't mind driving that at all, and yes the driver in the pictures is a girl, which sends a message that the car is aimed more at the female market, but i'd still be happy to drive that as a daily.

Man, dude i was ABOUT to post a thread for this beauty!! What a stunning car... I've requested a brochure, it's full of sketches etc. I think mercedes really hit it off with this new model. Very cool inside and out. Never thought they would just put their concept IAA car grille into production a few weeks later! Great job, it's beautiful. Best part, there will be a 3door coupe and a top of the range model the A25 AMG

It defintely looks better than the previous versions, since they were essentially small-sized vans 
but seems like they have achieved this visual improvement at the expense of the traditional Class A's interior room and practicality that the "van" shape had given it, they essentially made it into a compact car ala BMW Series-1, and that looks like thier target now.

i've seen it in Geneva and i was so so. like the back but it does make me think of a Giuletta, from the side, similarities with the BMW and front Mercedes.
i'm sure the car must be fun to drive and will be like by woman or youngs.

Good move by Mercedes. The B class was always the better Compact van, so now they put the A class in the right direction! I never understood the previous A class, it was by far not as practical as the b class, and the looks was plain ugly as well. But now, Even if its a copycat, its a very nice One. I am sure this will be a success. The b class still surves the old ( A and B )costumers, and the new a class is the real entry level Mercedes for the youngsters. Now they have to pull a right amg version to polish the sportive image of this car.

M-B are clever with the new A-class. They turned it from a "girl's or mother's" car to something that can appeal to everyone, especially younger people. Like an Audi A3 for Mercedes fans, which didn't exist before.
The new B-class, also covers the previous A-class segment.

The front reminds me very much of Volvo V40...

The A25 AMG is actually a pretty cool car...320 horses, AWD...should be a blast to drive. 
Speaking of AWD: I heard a strong rumor that AMG plans to introduce AWD on a various line of models, like the E63 and...C63. Not sure if this is valid for the current generation but it makes a lot of sense.

I've got the confirmation that AWD will be available each for all new generations E, C, S at first starting with the S. 
Thats pretty nice. Not so nice is the replacement of the fabulous 6,3 litre AMG in the C-Class with the twin turbo.
Yes, the 6.2 l AMG N/A engine will be gone...in new cars.
AWD in all models sounds great, you just can't sell a car with 600 Nm torque and RWD, at least not to "normal" people.
