    Panamera Turbo S beaten by the Panamera Turbo

     

    In the latest issue of the German AB Sports Cars magazin is to read a direct comparison between the Panamera Turbo and Panamera S. The Panamera (without S) ist the winner.

    The Turbo S is of course slightly faster. For example:
    the  lap time difference on the Sachsenring amounts just 0.33 seconds.

    The acceleration from 0-100 kph: 3,7 / 3,9 and 0-200 kph 12,5 / 13,8.
    But that is where the real advantage of the S is visible: 1.3 sec difference is pretty noticeable.

    Despite these facts the Panamera Turbo won this comparison, because the extra power stand in no relation to the additional costs. The latter is of course a matter of personal opinion. The extra price for the Panamera Turbo S is just at 14,000 €. For me the extra costs would be well worth to spend. Smiley

    Turbo S "Extra Costs" would be a blessing for autobahn passing situations. Of course the extra power is expensive, the whole car is expensive!  Duh on AB!

    My C63 AMG Coupe PP does 0-200 kph in 13.6 seconds...according to the same publication. So why would I choose a Panamera Turbo for almost 180k EUR if I can have the same performance for more than 100k EUR less ? indecision

    1.3 seconds difference from 0-200 kph are not the whole story, from 0-300 kph, the difference is much bigger. This may not be important in speed limited countries but definitely very important on the german Autobahn. indecision

    AB makes a huge mistake (as usually...when car journalists, who can't actually afford or drive such cars privately): The price difference between the Turbo and the Turbo S is merely around 15k EUR. So wouldn't everybody gladly pay 15k EUR more in this price class to get additional power and performance ? Especially for the Autobahn ?

    Don't get me wrong but I know customers who spend 20k on leather options but they don't want to spend 15k on more power ? Does it really make sense on such a car ?
     

    What also shocks me a little bit: Many who order the Panamera choose a more elegant approach to the car when they choose colors and options. I saw so many used Panamera, tons of them and all looked more like cars for my father than for me, if you get my point. My father is almost 90.
    The Panamera is a Porsche, it should look as sporty as possible. I am aware of the fact that this goal isn't easy on such a huge and heavy (looking and being) car but one should do the best out of it.

    The Panamera is a Porsche, it should look as sporty as possible. I am aware of the fact that this goal isn't easy on such a huge and heavy (looking and being) car but one should do the best out of it.--

    I'm sure you've chosen the best combo to underline it as a sportscarSmiley
    and am very curious how it will look like in reality. As I wrote above: I would definitely invest the 15.000 € surcharge for the Turbo S. Only the Turbo S makes a Panamera to a speciality compared to the complete comparable market.

    It will look pretty nicely in reality. My dealer has a new Panamera GTS which he has optioned absolutely identical to my ordered Turbo S, just without PCCB. It looks breathtaking...  blush

    He (the dealer) actually told me that they were thinking about what color/etc. to choose for the GTS and the woman who does the ordering remembered my car and thought this is the sportiest possible setup and very suitable for the GTS. Good girl. smiley

    Regarding performance: I'm still amazed that a heavy car like the Panamera Turbo S can do 0-100 kph in 3.7 seconds and due to the AWD, probably all the time without a big sweat from the driver.

    I mean 3.7 seconds for a huge sedan...how crazy is that ? Smiley
