These events are very unfortunate. On the other hand, I have always wondered if the newer Lotus ambitions regarding new models weren't a bit too much for such a small manufacturer.

The tie up between Proton and Lotus was very unnatural in the first place. The Malaysian company had nothing to offer to Lotus, engineering-wise. Imagine if Lotus was taken over by the VW Group instead, what it would have been by now!
Second, ex-Ferrari employee Taner "Danny" Bahar thought he was a magician who could make Lotus a successful cross between Porsche and Ferrari. A delusional dreamer, really.

Somehow I always knew this was not going to become a reality ... it's sad for Lotus fans ... but reality is now setting in ...
