Why are we discussing junk like Ferraris on the 918 blog ????
Cause I kind of took over this thread and taking everyone on a journey to the 918. That supposedly straightforward journey has turned into a round the world trip and since the owner of the site and all the moderators didn't object, we keep going sideways and backwards.

Nick, never mind the PM. I just noticed someone on the other board let the cat out.
Due to quality issue on the lower trailing arms on the rear axle, Porsche has issued a stop sale order as of last Tuesday. 2nd stop sale in 4 months.
The 6 North American cars, 5 in the US and 1 in Canada, are to be inspected and replace if necessary.
Now you guys kind of know why I am cleaning house. Quality of Porsche is getting worse.

Remind me again how many 458 production cars burst into flames? 
If you think the two stop sale incidents represent the brand quality, then you are wrong. It is a bit like saying that flying suddenly became unsafe because we had three deadly incidents close to each other. Well, it is not.

Porsche is at the cutting edge of technology and things happen
we all know they go all the way to make sure that their product are perfect
if you think a little hick ups like this is an indication that Porsche quality then the same should be said about Boeing
if you want talk about bad quality all you have to do is compare the finish of a Porsche with a Ferrari
Try with Ferrari and their flaming 458 Italias all over the world

Is the 1 in Canada yours? 
If I remember correctly you mentioned one yellow car on Canada soil which is concerned, is it the one and therefore does yours need to be inspected first before confirmation and potentially make it the second Canadian car impacted?

As for the fire on the 458s. The supplier for the rear fender lining changed the adhesive without notifying Ferrari. The original specified one can withstand high heat, the replacement didn't, that's why it got detached and burn up.
Everything is about cost. The supplier exchanged the expensive glue formula to a cheaper version to boost bottom line. Didn't work out too well for all parties.
It would seems the same thing is happening to 918 parts, except in this case Porsche caught it early.

Not quite yet. This is a used one on the lot that I asked to have a extended test drive, to see how it is to live with a V12.
First impression, this is a Corvette with a MUCH nicer interior. Power seats is a nice change from the racing ones on my Speciale.
2nd impression, this car is LOUD on start up. We started it up in the showroom this morning, scared a couple people, one was right behind it checking out a California, the other was around the corner inside a office.
3rd impression, not sure if Ferrari tune it this way, need to ask later, but the clutch pick on start off is lazy, even in Race mode, like driving a torque converter car. Nothing like the immediate pickup on the Speciale. Maybe others here who has the F12 can chip in.
4th, Ferrari's V12 is really something. Silky smooth and if under 3k rpm on part throttle it's quiet inside, kinda like AMG cars, I can hear clearly the exhaust but it's non-intrusive. But on idle with just a tad throttle, like creeping speed, the exhaust resonance is quiet loud, think Ferrari do it on purpose to gives the sensory some overload.
5th, it's a very refined GT car, my wife likes it a lot. The suspension in normal is a tad softer than the Speciale on bumpy road.
6th, not sure what all the fuzz the journalists wrote on the 'fast' steering ratio. Doesn't seem THAT fast compared with the Speciale or even my Porsche, but it certainly is a lot lighter.
Gonna say bye to the Speciale for this car next week. Will drive it till at least late Sept or Oct till the 918 arrives. FF likely won't arrive till Dec.
Getting rid of the Speciale doesn't mean I don't like it. I LOVED that car, but with such heavy options I am going to let someone else take the depreciation hit down the road. As of right now I am getting paid the drive the Speciale for the last month and change and will be getting the F12 under MSRP even for a used one. In the end it was my wife's suggestion that I should get the F12 first, then wait for the FF to decide which one I really want. (I think I finally changed her thinking into a car guy's after all these years. 
)

I pay a lot attention on details and I memorize a lot of stuff, but also I am bit picky since I notice every single flaw
