Mmmm.... Think you're right indeed. but the fact that I thought it was Rhodium doesn't make it $63.5K stunning IMO....
Really looks very much like Rhodium on that picture. i would save some money and pick the Rhodium. That's a lot of fuel you can buy for the money you save! ;)
here's a 991 in Rhodium... Looks just as stunning IMO... (Or am I biased? 
)

Unfortunatly it's not mine, but from a fellow member at 6speed, so all credits to him ;) I've ordered almost the same car with the difference that mine will be a C4S instead of a C2S.
I think tihis color really makes the lines of the 991 design stand out.

From L4P:Spike12I recently met the head engineer on this project. While he wouldn't give exact specifics, it will be over 900 HP (combined gas and electric) and over 875 lb/ft of torque. They expect it to test, with proper tires and a rolling start at 6 min, 35 sec. By the way, the 0-62 number has been sandbagged all along. Look for 2.6 when tested (again with proper tires).

Wow! That's one very nice Carrera...
That is NICE ! rhodium is definitely the best colour for the 991. This car looks fantastic.

I like the 918, I really do. Specially in these latest pics. But what I really hate is that by the time the "big reveal" comes we'll be so tired of seeing the car that the excitement will be gone, heck it's already mostly gone. Sure the numbers will be great and performance will take a solid hit at the competition, but I feel having all this virtually finished cars just rolling around undisguised has taken such a big hit to the whole mistique of this car. They've somehow hindered it's "exotic-ness" by being so open about development and the evolution of the thing, having it drive around looking like it's being held together with tape and with lights from any standard carrera.

Or are they just hired ' actors' to show off the car ?
How does the typical test driver look alike? 
Don't worry...he works in Weissach. 
The last Porsche test driver I had to "deal" with was 24 years old.

At this moment, I think the decision to purchase the 918 from a financial point of view is a failure, more epic that the CGT, but I don't care, simply because I think I valued it not as an investment but as a technology showcase. Nothing else now or in the near future comes close to the technology offered in the 918. Plus, thanks to Facebook and today George Soros, I made enough last 7 days to fully paid for the car taxed in. The Soros part was especially sweet, considered he almost ruined my family's lives 16 year ago. I consider today's gain off him was his restitution to me.
I thought the $400,000 deposit was nonrefundable?
BTW, you should thank Obama. Send him a note and congratulate him on his up coming 52nd birthday this Sunday.
It was only the initial $200k which is refundable. Porsche never asked for the second $200k. Balance after the initial $200k will be due when car arrives.

This one looks like a customer car. The border strip on the seat belt is a cost added option, someone how I don't think Porsche is using these fancy strips on the testing prototypes. I ordered the strips on my car too, but in acid green to match the calibers.

Just came back from the dealer as they had just received the sample package for the 918.
It was still in the cardboard shipping box when I got there and we opened it together like it's a Christmas present. It was a quickie iPhone pic, so it didn't turn out too well.
I have to say, I was quite a bit underwhelmed by the 2 liquid metal colours when I saw them for the first time. the base liquid metal looks just like any other shades of Porsche's standard silver in real life, there is no extra pop or flakes or anything like that, in fact in look really close in colour to the meteor grey as it was a surprisingly dark shade of silver. The chrome blue one as least got a little blue tint, but it looks quite feminine. Porsche made those 2 samples quite a bit bigger just to showcase them, but they failed to impress me at all. Not worth the extra money.
Next I checked out the leather, We picked out the 2 black leather ones with acid green piping. One is the standard one the other is the expensive option, authentic leather. The names were on the back side so it was a blind testing at first to see which one feels better. One is a darker shade of black than the other. After feeling both samples for a couple minutes, My eyes prefer the darker black but my fingers prefer the feel of the lighter one, it feels softer too. Same thing form the sales manager. Turns out the lighter one is the standard. haha.
Then checked out the trims, galvanized carbon, standard carbon finish and the matte finish. THe galvanized one REALLY REALLY feels like metal. Wow.
The striped seatbelts looks really good, glad I picked that option.
In the end, after seeing all the samples, I am sticking to the basalt black with the satin silver wheels, acid green trims with black leather and skipped the carbon interior. May 2014 production so I 'should' have it maybe end of June 2014.

No sorry, forgot to take detail pictures of the plates. I might try next time I pop by the dealership.
But the liquid metal silver is a REALLY REALLY close shade of silver as the meteor grey and the blue chrome is just like GT silver with a light light bluish tint.
