It was on the rear reflector up to the 964.
Thats right, it means that after 964 (incuding 964) there was no PORSCHE lettering on the rear for 4 generations of 911
It is probably juste glued on with tape. So there should be no problem to take it off.
I have done it before on my 997.1 and I could do it using my fingers.
Dental floss is the recommended tool.
The letters are (most likely) stick-ons, just like the Boxster, Cayman, Carrera, etc. lettering on all recent cars. Easily removed. Best done early in life of car, otherwise letter will leave very subtle shadow. Come to think of it, maybe it is best to leave them on for a few years and then; then you will be left with very subtle (barely visible) shadow Porsche lettering.
