    My guess in the US, it will settle out to rhyme with "muckin'". Pronunciation usually follows the path of least resistance.

    I had a play around with the official drawing and revised the side proportions from the designers sleek, purposeful drawing to a more realistic window height ratio and gave it some real wheels.

    I somehow feel this sketch doesn't have much headroom. I think the cabin will be taller.

    A shallow window height is possible without compromising interior headroom. Take a look at an Evoque.

    Hmmm...yes, you may be right. The beltline on the Evoque seems tall though, making the body seem bulky, to my eye anyway. The direction the Macan seems to be taking is more balanced and streamlined.

    Beautiful Evoque. That car has simply raised the bar, from a styling viewpoint, of what a compact SUV can (and how good it should) look like.

    The Macan has a tough rival to beat. I think it will offer all the usual Porsche SUV qualities. Whether it will outdo the Evoque in terms of luxury etc? Only time will tell. It really depends on how much luxury they include ... clearly they don't want to cannibalise Cayenne sales (and it won't be the first time that PAG releases a hamstrung car to protect a more expensive model e.g. Cayman vs 911) but IMO they really should do the Macan justice so that it can be as much of a commercial success as it can be.

    BTW I'm personally glad it isn't called Cajun. It keeps reminding me of Pizza Hut toppings :)

    Also, there needed to be some variety in how the names sounded. They already had Cayenne and Cayman. Another 'Cay-jun' sound? Not IMO.

    A Porsche with a different name altogether is IMHO a good thing.

    Evoque enlightened.

    The first one I saw caught my eye. It was in white and I thought it looked really good. The more I see them the more I dislike the pointless design of the rear. It looks as if a building fell on it during an earthquake and the narrow rear window reminds me of an armoured vehicle's opening.

    A design novelty that is wearing out.

    I wish I could agree that the Evoque is a successful design, as Land Rover has for too long clung to the boxy, safari look Land Rover believes is its heritage.  The more there are attractive smaller SUVs, the better, as this market segment is popular and almost ubiquitous. 

    However, having seen the Evoque on the road here, the sloping rear window and deck treatment is overdone and too decidedly stylish.  I have not driven one, but my guess is the rear view is obstructed and will eventually irritate the driver.  It may not appeal as well to female drivers (current BMW owners), but time will tell.

    The Evoque will no doubt be appointed luxuriously, in LR fashion.  The Macan will also have its luxuries, but in Porsche's more spartan style.

    I suppose Porsche will eventually give us some direction on this question and then I think we will mostly follow that. I agree about the path of least resistance, but the various possible pronunciations don't seem so difficult to me.  I think it will go "McCann", as mentioned above, or "Macon", as in Georgia.
