Nice with a multifunction steering wheel with puddles at last! Even after having owned a both 997.2 and a 991 I can't get used to the touch-screen PCM. I really prefer the Audi/BMW implementation where the multimedia system is managed while not having to lift the right arm from the armrest. But this is most likely subjective (like a lot of other stuff )
Give me a fully loaded macan turbo in Rhodium silver and I will live with the PCM-shortcomings

New info tidbits:
I've officially put my name down into Porsche's system for the Macan as of last week. I went to the dealer tonight to show the latest spy shots off and confidently boast what I found... only to be spectacularly one-upped by my salesman who has now seen the real deal.
Apparently, the owner of our local dealer was invited to Germany to see the production Macan and had the opportunity to examine and sit inside it. He came back with a few photos that he showed my salesman who in turn verbally passed the details off to me as the photos are sadly under the ownership of the dealer owner. He says the Macan is clearly a Porsche and the DNA is very strong in its design, to the point that the car will look like a shrunken Cayenne to the untrained eye. The front is very Cayenne-like but the rear is, in his words, spectacular: the taillights will be super-slim at about the width of four fingers and will wrap around the rear body panels and continue slightly onto the tailgate, they have the 3D design previewed on the Panamera Sport Turismo and the interior light design is all-horizontal LED lines. Unlike many renderings previewed above, the taillights will NOT connect across the tailgate.
The interior will be your traditional Porsche fare: bigger PCM screen at about 8 inches, a small storage box below the screen and a center console almost as wide as that on the Panamera with full buttons, unlike the altered one with the Cayenne. He says it's sportier than the Cayenne and a snugger fit but it works wonderfully. No info yet on drivetrain or transmission.
All in all, there won't be any surprises but my salesman insists that the Macan will decimate the compact SUV market on looks alone and a possible starting price of 15000 KWD plus/minus 500 KWD in the local market.

Six months? Latest rumor was: First appearance in 2014. Why six months?
Wasn't the IAA appearance cancelled?

^ Good point.
I called bogus and went back with the renderings Larson created of the white Macan above and he said those were the images he was shown. -_- We're back to being up in the air.
Did anyone notice the low reflector units in the black prototype SportCarGroup posted? Looks like the reversing lights may be set deep down in them rather than in the taillights the way Audi keeps the reversing lights down there on their Q models. Hmm...
Re the release: I've been told that the IAA debut was cancelled and the world debut moved to Los Angeles in November with deliveries from early 2014.
You don't suppose that they're moving the Macan to Detroit or Geneva, eh?

My local P guy told me presentation 10/2013 and deliveries 4/2014 (Europe) . Launch versions V6 Turbo Diesel and V6 Turbo petrol.
This sounds about right, I heard about three launch models though.

Porsche decided to reach for the low hanging fruit... They could be doing amazing cars and still selling lots of them
I double on the design department being away when these models were created

I think the rear end might be close to the real deal; the front has too much Cayenne in it.
My new guess is that the Macan headlights will have a 918 Spyder look; slimmer and taller with the headlight unit set deep inside.
The striptease needs to continue.

larson was the first one imo to nail the 991 - you would swear in hindsight that he had sneek previews.
i like this
i was looking for his original illustration but could only find the Targa one - although this was issued after the 991 was shown, that back end is exactly what Larson was showing when other people had 991 illustrations that were out to lunch.
as i say, going on his track record,, that Macan looks amazing from that back shot. AND no more Hyundi at least until their design department - which comprises only a camera to steal other ideas - gets time to copy.
