    50th Anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona

    Starting in two and half hours

    24 Porsches racing in the GT class  and # 59 Brumos Porsche on Pole (GT class)

    Almost all Porsche factory drivers racing. Fantastic driver line ups in both classes.

    Ferrari, Audi (first time in history), Chevy Camaro, Stage II Mazda RX all racing.

     

    Radio Le Mans providing live coverage, and Live timing and Scoring here 

    Also - Speed.com providing live video feed  for most of the race.

    Porsche wins again. How typical.

    There wasn't even any drama in the GT Class. Vette or Camaro need to get back in the game. Ford SVT team, what's up fellas?

    Great race PORSCHE.  I was really hoping Haywood would get a 6th win, but 5 is nothing to complain about! wink

    There was a Ferrari 458 Italia Grand-Am spec at P5 in the GT class

    This is the Risi Competizione press release:

    Yes, I was aware of the 458.

    It's just getting tiring to see the same results in almost every GT class endurance race.

    P4 - Porsche

    ...rinse repeat.

    Not sure what GT racing you have been watching, but 2011 was NOT a great year for Porsche and the 911.

    Not sure what GT racing you have been watching, but 2011 was NOT a great year for Porsche and the 911.

    Yes, 2011 was not, one of the rare years when Porsche was not in top form.
    But by and large, Porsche runs the table.

    And don't misundestand, I'm not taking anything away from Porsche. I applaud their success. I just want to see a legitimate and consistent contender. The US marks could do so much better but they're so in love with CRAP(NAS)CAR, staking tens of millions and funding teams and cars that have ZERO relation or derivation to their road cars and ZERO technology transfer or testing that will improve their road going models.

    What NASCAR could be if they were racing competition versions of the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger -- real cars fans could go out and buy on Monday.
