    Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 sets new braking record...

     
    Performance test magazine Sport Auto sent us this video of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 achieving a new braking performance record for road cars. The occasion was the annual Sport Auto high-speed performance 0-300-0 test event for series models in Papenburg, German.
     
    The video is a little old, but we think it's still relevant as it shows the speedo going from 300 km/h (186 mph) to zero in 6.5 seconds - not something you see too often without a crash resulting.
     
    To put the achievement into context, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 beat out the previous world record holder, the Koenigsegg Agera R and its 300 to 0 km/h time of 6.66 seconds.
     
    Other competitors in the test included the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, McLaren MP4-12C, Jaguar XKR-S, Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, Alpina B5 Biturbo, Bentley Continental GT.
     
    Limited to just 600 units, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 features a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter engine, the biggest engine ever offered in a Porsche 911, which translates into a hp/liter figure around 125 hp/liter (92 kW) and 368 hp/tonne. That makes for a total output of 500 PS (368 kW / 493 hp) and torque rating of 460 Nm (339 lb-ft).
     
    Weighing just 1,360 kilograms (2998 lbs) the car does the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in only 3.6 seconds (c/o Sport Auto) and the GT3 RS 4.0 rounds the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in 7:27 minutes...

    OMG ! - all green ok - but silver with red stickers on it - black wheels and yellow brake calibers ?.....I am going blind.....

    Put all stickers off and have the wheels painted in the same green color - then it's ok !

    For me personally, I would go without stickers, paint all grey parts black and I think I'd be looking at my perfect RS.

    Great video - let me ask you guys this....

    The driver clearly went into the RED range and would have generated a number of ignitions in the low and mid Ranges, the latter of which would void any warranty claim.

    What is your opinion on this? I am curious because he would for sure have logged warnings in the system which will be seen when the OPC pugs the car in.

    "We bow down in respect to Porsche. This is some of the most impressive factory stock specific output we have ever seen. To hit over 100 wheel horsepower (not crank horsepower) per liter is a feat we have not seen many factory stock motors over 4.0 liters accomplish with the F430 Scuderia being the only other one in recent memory with 459 wheel from its 4.3 liter. 457 wheel horsepower in STD correction from a 4.0 liter flat-6 is absolutely absurd and this is by far the most powerful production naturally aspirated six cylinder the world has ever seen.
     
    The 997 GT3 RS 3.8 hits 116.38 wheel horsepower per liter. The 4.0 hits 114.25 wheel horsepower per liter. The F430 Scuderia is at 106 wheel per liter. The GT3 RS is rated at 125 crank horsepower per liter but that crank ratings even looks conservative to us. 
     
    How about that the GT3 RS 4.0 is making just over 100 horsepower at the wheels more than an E92 M3 4.0 liter V8? Same displacement, two less cylinders, and 100 more at the wheels. Ladies and gentlemen, that is some of the most impressive engine building the world has ever seen from a production naturally aspirated six cylinder motor. Porsche squeezed out a ridiculous amount of power and 4.0 owners are certainly getting their monies worth. We do not have enough superlatives to bestow on Porsche, phenomenal."
