    My new Cayenne Diesel

After a long time since I sold my 2004 Cayenne S, I'm back to the Cayenne community. In the mean time, I've owned many 997s (Carrera, Turbo and GT3 RS) but family needs urgently demanded more space.

Was tempted to buy a used Cayenne Turbo S (RC, thanks for your advise), but common sense prevailed and after a nice deal from my Porsche Center this is my new car:

    • Jet black metallic, with black interior.
    • 19" Cayenne Turbo wheel.
    • Bixenon.
    • Park assist.
    • Powerliftgate.
    • Sunroof.
    • Air suspension.
    • Servotronic.
    • 100 liters fuel tank.
    • Multi-function steering wheel.
    • Navigation.
    • Universal audio interface.
    • Bluetooth.

There are a few options that I would have ordered, but the deal I got was for a stock unit (hence the nice price).

A great car to travel with the family under the Spanish rules. low consumption and relaxed cruising. During my first trip from pickup, I managed a 7,9 l/100 consumption in a mixed highway/national route @ 115 kmh average speed. Not bad considering my former Cayenne S managed a 15+ l/100 consumption. And bellow 180 kmh (rarely I drive faster in Spain), it feels as fast if not more.

A couple of pics, one shows the PCM readout:

    Regards

Congratulations Mikla!  Same as mine, except I can't be bothered with a sunroof which I consider a generally unusable option in any car.

As a family car where speed is not just unimportant but unwelcome, it's perfect, only found wanting when you hit the mountains.

    Re: My new Cayenne Diesel

Great economical choice! The Diesel consumes half the fuel than you S. That's amazing!

indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine..  I happen to like both :)

    Congratulations!  Great choice. kiss

    Re: My new Cayenne Diesel

Great choice....I am looking forward to Diesel Cayenne arriving in US..

Great choice! Personally I would upgrade the wheels to 20 or 21", you would be amazed how much better the Cayenne looks! Enjoy the ride!

    Re: My new Cayenne Diesel

Most Cayenne Diesel owners, I speak to, are very happy with their cars, excellent choice IF someone wants a car from Porsche.

However, having owned  the Audi Q5 (albeit in 2.0 TDI) for a few months now, I would prefer the Q5 3.0 TDI instead of the Porsche. In favour of the Audi are: better acceleration, slightly better top speed, same official consumption (in reality it's a little better), smaller for parking and urban traffic, more pleasing styling (subjective), equally well made but 20% cheaper and most probably requiring less expenditure on maintenance. The only advantage of the Porsche is the extra space (for large families) and possibly better off-road ability (again how many do off-roading in their Cayenne?).

The Audi variable damping is very good on 18" wheels at least and so is the match between the TDI engine and the S-tronic DCT transmission both in Auto mode and in Dynamic mode. I love this Audi Smiley.Up till now I snubbed Audi as a lower choice compared to Mercedes and BMW, but I'm converted.

Thanks all of you for your kind comments!

My car had in fact 20" wheels. I changed them to have a more supple ride. Had 20" in my former cayenne S and didn't like them from the ride perspective. In the end, it's a family car! indecision

The Q5 is a nice car, however, I'd rather have a Porsche as a daily driver. Guess we are intoxicated... This is part of Porsche's success!

    Re: My new Cayenne Diesel

The Porsche Cayenne has a superb interior, this is actually what I love most about the Cayenne. As a daily driver, the Diesel is also perfect, low consumption combined with that Porsche feel. I agree, performance isn't that great (compared to the Audi with the same engine) but the Cayenne is really great (though pretty expensive).

Smiley I drive my family around on 21" wheels, but I must say Swiss roads are really good. Guess we have to suffer a bit too look good! Smiley Smiley
