Haha ... :) This was a slightly obvious one though ....

Just as an aside, I noticed while I was in South Africa how easily the South Africans I spoke with understood my sense of humour, especially when I was being wry, ironic or sarcastic ...

The potential for misunderstanding is far greater with Americans ... I find British humour easily translates for South Africans and Australians ...

I think the cultural connections between the British and (English-speaking) South Africans still run deeper than those between Brits and Americans. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that English-speaking South Africans have never really developed a strong sense of independent identity - or maybe it's just because the ties with the "old country" still run deep (most people here have relatives and/or close friends living in the UK, while many have either worked in England or travel there quite regularly).

Alonso says we won't really know till China whether the 2012 Ferrari is capable of winning the championship. He hopes to carry on driving for many years.

Autoblog UK reports that Bruno Senna has apparently signed for Williams. Another pay-for-drive pilot. They have fallen from such heights to lowest possible position. I'm predicting they will have a scrap for the last place with HRT in 2012.

Williams is a pale shadow of what it once was. I wouldn't go as far as saying that they are battling HRT.

They were better than HRT and Virgin last year by some distance.

I think they will be trying to distance themselves from HRT, Marussia, Caterham etc and re-establishing themselves as a midfield team this year.

As for Bruno Senna, money talks. The richest guy in Brazil wants him in the cockpit. There is no way Williams will say no if the price is right. And Williams needs the money now that AT&T ended its sponsorship deal with them.

Does Barrichello really think he has a worthwhile career left? The only vacant race seat is at HRT ... does he really want to end his race career there? Even Alguersuari turned them down.

Rubens made a big mistake IMO by not retiring gracefully and with dignity intact in Brazil at his home race. It would have been a very fitting way to bring a long career to an end. Instead, he is going away quietly with no chance for his home fans to salute him.

I actually have got no problem with BS. I sense there is a potential there. Even his famous uncle had once alluded of Bruno being a greater talent than himself.

Problem more lies in Pastors inability to bring nothing but green stuff to F1. I haven't seen more lost person than him in F1 for years now.

Hamilton to testify at Sutil's trial. This doesn't make much sense to me. The alleged incident took place in Shanghai. What criminal jurisdiction does a Munich District Court have to hold a prosecution? Which German criminal laws have been broken? The alleged criminal offence took place in Shanghai where local authorities did not take further action. Sutil's lawyers should be seeking to have this trial dismissed. This isn't a civil case where the victim is seeking damages or compensation.

The second link you posted reginos gives it away ... the quotation from Alonso is a very, very old one ... after SV's first 2010 title but before the 2011 was wrapped up.

As such, the sheer domination and convincing manner of SV's victory in 2011 would no doubt affect FA's view if he were asked the same question again today ...

Whichever journalists quoted these old remarks are just incompetent and/or mischief-making ...

Confirmed, FIA bans Lotus-Renault's new suspension system which which was thought to be the inventionn of the similar importance in performance to the blown diffusers of last year that gave RBR the title... if the desition would of gone the other way (and I wonder if the team would have been RBR, McLaren or Ferrari if that would have been the case) we may have seen Kimi taking the 2012 title to everyone's surprise...

Yeah, I read about this too ... but the article on the BBC website states that Ferrari also had developed a similar system ... so the FIA ban against a Ferrari innovation as well makes an alleged bias harder to prove IMHO.

In terms of development, this is a late blow to Lotus and Ferrari ... testing starts on 6 Feb :)

AFAIK Lotus the one that came up with it and actually have it ready and Ferrari showed interest in the system (as every other team most likley just not made any declarations in the press about it) but declared that they were awaiting the desition by the FIA for wether they would work on such a system or not :

Yeah, I agree ... it was a very smart piece of tech ... also it was designed to adjust according to the increasing ride height as the fuel level decreases as the race progresses.

AFAIK it improved stability while cornering giving a real boost to cornering speeds.

We 'll never find out mate. My reckoning is that it would just be a bonus but it wouldn't change the fundamentals of the car. Aero efficiency is so much greater than just an anti-dive system.

AFAIK its effect was precisely in the repercusion it had on that aero efficiency, by adjusting the front ride height under braking, fuel loads, etc it significantly altered the aerodinamics allowing from much more aggressive aerodinamics allowing for greater cornering speeds and grip. An end result that reminds me a lot of last years RBR advantage over the rest of the grid, apparently this suspension system was deemed the invention of the season (ala Brawn GP rear diffuser, RBR blown diffusers, etc).
