A friend drove the McLaren recently and was impressed by seat position, suspension set ups, simplicity of dash design/controls, ease of entry through the upswing doors, transitonal exhaust sound, and acceleration. My friend also owns a 458, and compares the cars favorably--each with its own particular appeal and advantages. There remain some defects in the McLaren to be fixed before U.S. release in January. My impression from my friend (who will drive the car as a daily driver) is that the McLaren is a fine car, but not noticeably better than the 458.
In latest issue of German AMS is 458 Italia compared with MP4-12C. 458 won in points. BUT... MP4-12C is a faster car.
458 Italia
0-100: 3.5s
0-200:10.4s
0-260:19.2s
MP4-12C
0-100: 3.3s
0-200: 9.2s
0-260:16.7s
Also 458 is with almost 1550kg around 70kg heavier then MP4-12C. Another interesting issue MP4-12C DCT is geared a la recent Porsche PDKs-that means that 7th gear is used a overdrive. On 458 situation is totally different, 7th is power gear(max is in 7th) and 5th and 6th gear are relatively short in comparison.
REALZEUS:
Funny how QR clocked the McLaren just as quick as AMS did, but clocked the Ferrari much faster than the german mag did...
Was it exactly the same car? If not, Italian cars are known to vary from unit to unit, much more than what is normal elsewhere.
That could be a reason, potentially.

the car is absolute pleasure, not a single glitch so far(well apart from the iris which keeps going on and off,and i was told on delivery that that will be sorted out in Jan - to be honest i don't really need it as the engine sound is all the music i need...)
been lucky with the weather lately so i use the car as much as i can till the weather turns bad, will report and compare then

Lap time was 1.09,7 (Ferrari) vs 1.09,5 (MP4-12C) - thus, nearly identical.
No doubt this is the best looking MP4 I've seen so far! Congratulations again!
You might want to take it to the Transfagarasan one day? Your combination of handling and comfort must excell there! I've just returned from a drive through Romania, I was impressed with some of the roads (not so impressed with the driving of some of the trucks).

Congratulations and happy motoring !!!
Glad to hear that you hadn't have any issues, so maybe the reports are a little bit exaggerated ?!
Have you ever been tempted by the Lamborghini Aventador ? Just curious.
Thanks a lot for the many photos.

Thanks
I had a Murcielgo and a Gallardo right when they were introduced respectively, don't like them much-the Murci and Aventador are too large to throw around and besides i am not attracted...more a Porsche kind of guy...to which the mp4 fits perfectly.
I think that by spring buyers would kill for them
