    I am inclined to believe that this is GT silver, judging by these pictures.

    Not a huge fan of the solid colours on the 991 apart from black as, in my opinion, especially the front part of the car features too many ovoid graphics that need a reflective colour to counteract that. White, red and especially yellow do not show the tautness of the surfaces as the metallic grey and silver hues do.

    I agree too. Platinum has a very slight brownish hue, and this doesn't.

    GT Silver. Platinium i(like in Francfort) is more clear

    I find it extremely difficult to differentiate Platinum and GT silver based on photographs as the latter is extremely sensitive to reflect surrounding hues and subject to the camera´s colour calibration. Platinum does have a permanent shade of.... platinum in it whereas GT silver looks grey to bluegrey but seems to contain a high number of metal particles that are reason for the high amount of reflected surrounding.

    If I am not mistaken, at least one of the 991s at IAA has been in GT silver:

    Silver Sport Design 991 (the second in previous pic) is Platinum.  I crawled all over this car in Frankfurt with an Exclusive representative.  I think the Rennsport car is Platinum as well, since it is Porsche's replacement for Arctic, and they are probably promoting it.

    Platinum IMHO is more attractive than GT.  GT has a flatter, almost duller look, whereas Platinum has more brightness and shine...

    I went from a BLACK 996 Turbo to a SILVER (Artic Silver) 997S Cabriolet because I had black for many years. After my first few months w/ my new silver Porsche I felt it was a good decision, it looked good & easier to maintain but after about 1 year w/ the silver car I missed black, the silver looked nice but it never looked as good as black when it was clean... ..At the 2 year mark I was back to black w/ my 997 Turbo Cab............ Pain in the ass vs silver? Yes. But worth it. Not sure yet if I'll buy the 991 Turbo Cab but if I do it'll be black. 

    Are you leaning towards a Red 991/Turbo?

    After talking with the dealership they tell me that Porsche has variations of the same colour over the years, so just because one type of silver looked certain way few years ago, it is not necessary that it will look 100% same again.

    The new 991 definitely has a nice rear, but if I compare it to the 997, especially in the pic above, I have to say the the butt of the 997 doesn't look any worse. To say the least... Smiley

    Well, the Polo´s panoramic roof is made from glass... smiley

    I find it surprising that some of you have such an aversion for the new sunroof concept. I personally don´t mind its looks, it looks actually quite interesting, and features a much bigger opening than the previous generations. The details that I personally don´t like on the 911 are the creases and panel gaps on the rear end. The gaps between rear fender and engine bonnet look a bit uninspired, the "roofrails" that wash out into the rearwing are supposed to be picked up by the arches that surrounding the taillights which, in my opinion, do not work out as intended. Not to mention the culmination of convex shapes on the front end of the car and the spoiler lip that is either too thin in std. shape or prominent in combination with the sports chassis.

    Of course, none of these are purchased-deciding details...

    Same roof design on new Mercedes sedans and wagons.  Allows slightly more headroom, and looks better in reality than in pics where one tends to focus on the roof only, not the whole car....

    Yes.  My first ever test drive in a 911 turbo was a 1989 Red/Tan, back in the early 90's.  At the time, it was a couple of years old and I was thinking of buying it.  To this day, that car made my heart beat like nothing else.

    So, I'm thinking of a Guards Red 991 Turbo. Smiley

    In the front end, no question the 991 is way better than the 997, but I'll have to see the 991's rear in person to decide wether or not I like it better than the 997's.

    I can already see aftermarket exhaust systems that will simplified the plumbing to save major weight. over the rear wheels to improve the weight ratio.

    The yellow 997 is certanly still attractive, but in person the 991 is quite different and IMHO more sleek, modern and stylish.  The 991 rear is noticeably more convex (rounded), and the accent strip from the fenders around the spoiler complements that curvature nicely.  The smaller taillights and larger spoiler, along with the wider exhaust panel opening, gives the 991 a flatter and more powerful appearance.  Also, if I am remembering the new specs corrently, the 991 has a lower stance and roofline, further emphasizing the sleeker and more aggressive look.  My opinons, of course...
