And also these were the special order colours -
I love that top middle grey (7575 Oxford or Beige Grey - depending on year).
I also love the old 356 colours, esp. the early lacquer ones. Pretty hard to get that sort of colour with todays water based paints though. Enamel is hard enough but matching the depth and saturation of lacquer is impossible I think...
I remember reading an article in Excellence when the 964 Turbo S came out and a guy had his painted in Enamel from the factory. They were only allowed to paint a couple a year for enviromental reasons and it was a $10,000++ paint to sample option. ANd that was in the mid-90's!

Congrats Iain - another great choice..
I do agree, however, with Carlos that TPMS is a must on cars without a spare wheel!
Surprised it's still an option. Wasn't there something about it becoming standard on all cars? Anyway - Definitely TPMS is a must. I keep the screen that shows pressure on all tires on the display. With these low profile tires it's a great piece of mind, find myself looking at it routinely but also after any pothole, keeps you from wondering if you've lost pressure....... It's a safety thing as well. Have 2 sets of wheels/tires 1) PS2's & Champions 2) Stock wheels & Nokians & have TPMS sensors in both sets.
Don't think Porsche could have done a better job w/ the rear of the car.. Love the shape of the rear lights too & can't wait to see it in person at night.

I decided to change my spec after my dealer advised me that his initial allocation is only for Carrera S models. He won't get any Carrera allocation until January at the earliest. I've gone for the following and been told the car will be delivered in late December - I'll believe that when I see it
Iain,
As always, very tasty configuration
Congrats

TPMS has many benefits ... when you're on a track day, it gives you an instant reading ... which helps you reduce pressures before re-inflating at the end of the session.
It gives an early warning about slow punctures ....
Of course, it tells you if there is a total deflation or blow out ....
It gives you a continuous reading so you can see how your tyres are warming up.
I personally wouldn't buy a Porsche without it

In the US all cars are required to have TPMS. Even the cheapest Corrolla has it. Porsche is nuts with all the options prices. My new Sonata comes with enough standard stuff (bluetooth, USB, iPod, TPMS, XM-Radio) for a total price of $17K that it makes Porsche prices look crazy. I took the Bose radio out the other day to get to a CD that was stuck in the CD player - when I looked at the CD player minus all the fancy faceplate it must cost no more than $5. No quality there - Bose is cheap.
Even with TPMS taking a long road trip without a spare is foolish. When you get a puncture on the highway it is seconds before the tire may be destroyed. TPMS will not help save the tire in most cases but it can give you an assurance that all is well or all is not. It can take days to have a tire delivered to where you broke down. I always take a spare I bought on eBay from a 996. It fits great in the front trunk with a soft luggage bag, I take a torque wrench, the spare comes with all the tools. I have used it and it fits even over my PCCBs. In one case it meant I could continue to KC from Montreal rather than be stuck outside of chicago for two days.
One important note... if you have flat in the rear you must move the good front tire to the rear and put the little spare in the front. It is too small to put on the back.
Overall the retail price in the USA for the new 991 ($82K DOLLARS) if excellent!! This is the greatest country on earth to own a Porsche (says me and my Valentine One). Cheap gas, cheap cars, excellent roads, cheap insurance (mine is $500 per year! with two teen age drivers in the household)

congrats on your 991 ISUK
I had placed a deposit for the 991 the end of August and finally received my local official price and individual/exclusive options sheet yesterday.
Everything just as standard plus some local equipment such as
-250- Porsche Deppelkupplung
- 567- Wind shield with grey scale
- 635- ParkAssist rear (with TopView)
- 692- 6-disc CD autochanger
810- Floor mats
P06- Sport seats(14-way,elctricainl,incl. Memory-Package)
- Metallic paint
All Leather interior
The Carrera S price including the tax is HKD 1,979,000.00(around USD 254,370.00). Sport Chrono USD 2,868, TPM USD 916, 20" Carrera Classic Wheel USD 1,522....... I believe my final order gonna over 260,000
however, the most difficult part for me is the color choice....
I kinda love the white but saw several white Carrera turning yellowish. Even worse I saw one white 997 look painted several colors from different parts of the body. Not big on red, silver, and the yellow. I would still consider white since not so sure regarding the blue and the new agate grey.
TPMS is a must on any car imo. a quick glance and you know your are good to go.
maybe it's cause i am very meticulous about tire pressure especially in our hot climate.
